Mangino undergoes medical tests

Kansas University football coach Mark Mangino released a statement Monday evening indicating that he underwent medical testing this week in Lawrence. “I underwent some tests over the past couple of days at Lawrence Memorial Hospital,” Mangino said. “These are tests that I had put off until after the season. The tests have been completed, I’m fine and I’ll be back in the office and recruiting starting tomorrow.”

KSU boasts top two rookies - maybe players - in league

For a change, the best player in the Sunflower Showdown wears purple and white, instead of crimson and blue. An argument could be made that the second-best player does, as well. Kansas State’s Michael Beasley and Bill Walker, both classified as freshmen and both already built like NBA veterans, have combined for 41.1 points and 19.3 rebounds. Both men were recruited to Manhattan by Bob Huggins and play for first-year coach Frank Martin.

It’s KU’s 24-year uninterrupted stretch of working with Special Olympians that continued Sunday at Allen Fieldhouse.

KU football player arrested, released

Scott David Webb, 23, a Kansas University senior and kicker for the 2007 Jayhawk football team, was arrested Saturday on a failure to appear charge. He was originally issued a notice to appear in Municipal Court for having a dog at large on Oct. 30. He failed to appear in court on that charge.
