More than three weeks after the Orange Bowl and almost two months after the Kansas-Missouri football game in Arrowhead Stadium, the Kansas University Athletic Department still has not provided details about revenue and expenses connected to the two games.
The public is interested in how much KU made on the two games, and the delay in releasing that information is unreasonable. Other schools who participated in BCS bowls have long since released financial information, and two months seems more than ample to receive figures on the KU-MU game.
KU officials contend that a "standard contract provision" gives the Kansas City Chiefs organization 60 days (which now has passed) to complete its financial report on the KU-MU game and continue to say data on both games will be available "soon."
It's already too late for that information to be released in a timely fashion. If athletic officials have nothing to hide, the financial details from the Orange Bowl and Arrowhead Stadium should have been released weeks ago.

I am a HUGE Jayhawk football fan and could care two cents about what the final financials look like. Is this the only item that the LJW can drum up to add a little negativity to the offseason? We won the Orange Bowl, and had maybe the greatest season in the history of Kansas Football and the editorial staff has to spin something bad out of it. How much do you think that it should be? We know that the paper thought the experiment in Arrowhead was a bad idea because for weeks leading up to the game we read all the negative articles written about how much of an economic downfall the downtown community would face. How about the editorial staff posting financials telling us how much more money the paperl made off the Jayhawks this year with advertising revenue both by the paper ond online? How about the downtown businesses posting their financials telling us how much better business was for them this year during football season? Keep it positive LJW, it was a wonderful year to be a Jayhawk football fan, and it had to make for a wonderful year covering the Jayhawks, and profiting advertising and reader wise. Rock Chalk!

The games should be played on the campuses, period.
The fact that the KC Chiefs organization was so involved in taking the concession, parking and gate revenue; and had so much sway over seating, with their season ticket holders getting the best locations, is outrageous. The game atmosphere on campus on game day will never be matched by a game in KC.

I still get ticked thinking about what it would have been like to have the College GameDay crew stationed on the hill and the exposure that it would have given KU. The parking lot of Arrowhead just didn't have much impact in that regard. I'd like to think we could have that chance again next year.
