Young accepts Miami assistant coaching job
Kansas University defensive coordinator Bill Young confirmed to the Journal-World that he is in line to become defensive coordinator at Miami. The official announcement is awaiting the processing of paperwork. “It’s a new challenge,” Young told the Journal-World. “Sometimes as a coach, you need that.” Young said it’s not a done deal because of paperwork that needs to be completed. He said details of a contract have not been finalized. He will replace Tim Walton, who was fired last month by Miami head coach Randy Shannon.

Who’s No. 1?
The college basketball polls have North Carolina ranked No. 1, Memphis No. 2 and Kansas No. 3. They are the only remaining undefeated NCAA Division I schools. Unlike in college football, a tournament is in place to crown the champion, but that won’t happen until April 7. The schools will not have a chance to play each other unless it happens in the NCAA Tournament, perhaps in the Final Four in San Antonio.
