KU softball players seethe over low pick

Kansas University's softball players were peeved. "I was furious," Kansas junior Val Chapple said. "I was very upset." Shortstop Stevie Crisosto felt the same way. "I was sitting at home with my roommate (pitcher Val George)," Crisosto said, "and we were pretty upset when we heard it." Echoed catcher Elle Pottorf, "I was angry."

Brandon Rush's knee injury might have been a blessing in disguise. Just ask his mom.

Brandon Rush still remembers the words of his mother, Glenda, who offered a pep talk to the Kansas University basketball player last June - a couple of weeks after surgery on his right anterior cruciate ligament."Blessing in disguise : that's what my mama said. This might be a blessing in disguise," Rush said before Thursday's practice at Horejsi Center. "My mom always knows what she's talking about, especially about basketball."

Top 25 Roundup: Indiana survives Illinois in 2 OTs

Indiana's Eric Gordon finally gave Illinois fans something to cheer about. Armon Bassett wasn't as kind. Bassett scored 11 of his 16 points in the second overtime, and No. 14 Indiana rallied to beat Illinois, 83-79, Thursday even though Gordon struggled for much of the night.

Kansas University's soccer team signed five players to letters of intent, coach Mark Francis announced Thursday.

Police: Missouri players seen at other incidents

Two University of Missouri basketball players involved in an altercation that left one with a broken jaw and the other facing criminal assault charges were seen at two earlier fights that resulted in gunfire last year, police said Thursday.
