Freshman tied for first at women’s golf invite

— Kansas University freshman Grace Thiry was one of two golfers to finish under par Sunday, putting her in a tie for first place after day one of the Qdoba Invitational.

Thiry fired a 71 to vault her into a tie with University of Miami's Jessica Steward and propel Kansas into fifth place. Kansas currently sits in a tie with Kentucky after the first 18 holes, shooting a one-round score of 307 at the Don Shula Golf Course.

East Carolina University holds the lead in team competition shooting a 296, while the University of Louisville and host, the University of Miami, each shot a 300 to tie for second place.

Sophomore Emily Powers was the only other Jayhawk to finish in the top 20, firing a three-over-par 73, good for 12th place.

Okay - Golf is about math... and if one girl shot under par @ 71 and another was three OVER @ 73, then somebody doesn't know how to do math!!! Can somebody get the facts straight!!!!!!!!!!
