Kansas University's soccer team signed five players to letters of intent, coach Mark Francis announced Thursday. The five:
¢ Kelsey Clifton, 5-foot-3 midfielder from Wichita, a three-time all-stater at Andover High.
¢ Kortney Clifton, Kelsey's sister and a 5-3 forward. Also a three-time all-stater, Kortney is the state's all-time scoring leader with 176 career goals.
¢ Kat Liebetrau, a 5-8 goalkeeper from Centennial, Colo.
¢ Sierra Miramontez, a 5-8 defender from Lenexa, a two-time all-state pick.
¢ Jordyn Purdue, a 5-4 midfielder from Pickerington, Ohio, and a two-time all-stater.

Francis is going to need more size and speed to compete in the Big 12. The little munchkins he recruits have a lot of heart, but they don't have the athleticism needed to win championships.

Yeah, the coach obviously turns down larger, faster athletes in favor of smaller/slower ones.
