It’s about time the Big 12 gets over the hump of mediocrity in bowl games. It’s amazing to think that 5-3 is the best the conference has ever fared in bowl games. This year presents favorable matchups, particularly in proving that the Big 12 is the best conference in the nation.
Two matchups against the SEC, three against the Big Ten, one against the Pac-10 and one against the ACC. All absolutely winnable — 7-0 would be awesome for the league, but it’s unlikely.
I’ll take Oklahoma, 49-31, against Florida; Texas, 48-24, over Ohio State; Texas Tech, 35-20, vs. Ole Miss; Oklahoma State, 51-40, over Oregon; Missouri, 40-20, over Northwestern; Clemson, 24-21, over Nebraska; and Kansas, 49-20, over Minnesota; 6-1 wouldn’t be bad.

I also think we go 7-1, but I think the one loss is OU. We need OU to come through for us this year, but it's at tall order.Florida 38-31 over OU, Texas 45-27 over Ohio State, Tech 42-20 over Ole Miss, Oklahoma State 38-28 over Oregon, Missouri 42-21 over Northwestern, Nebraska 31-27 over Clemson, and Kansas 35-17 over Minnesota. And yes, I can never root for Mizzou, so I hope they lose and that OU picks up the slack for them.

OU and Nebraska have the toughest tasks.Obviously Oklahoma drew one of the strongest teams in the nation. Not much separates them and Florida. That one could go either way.Texas should roll Ohio State to continue to show that the Big Ten has inferior personnel.Tech will handle Ole Miss because Ole Miss is the fourth or fifth best team in the SEC, while Tech is the third best team in the Big XII.Oklahoma State should paste Oregon because their defense won't be able to keep up with the balance.Mizzou should put 50 on a Northwestern team that isn't very athletic, even for the Big Ten.Nebraska has a fight on their hands with a Clemson squad that has recovered since stinking the joint up early in the year. If the Huskers get up early, they will probably win because Clemson is a much better running than passing team. And KU should beat a Minnesota team that also isn't very stacked personnelwise. Minnesota is the kind of team we can really exploit because they aren't stacked with tons and tons of NFL caliber players. Worst case scenario Big XII goes 4-3 because we loss both toss ups and somebody that should win comes out flat (Tech and Mizzou are the biggest candidates for that since they have the least to play for). 7-0 isn't outside the realm of possibility, but that would take some great efforts. I'm predicting 5-2. Loss by Nebraska against Clemson, loss by Tech against Ole Miss.

I can never root for Missouri so I hope they're the one loss even though it would be kind of nice to see the Big 12 go 7-0. I am SO sick of every sports announcer in the country thinking the SEC is the best thing in college athletics, so I will be cheering loudly for Oklahoma even though I don't really care for the Sooners. I would love nothing more than for the Big 12 to hold the basketball and football championships!

For the life of me I can't figure out why people still like Clemson.I think it's because they started the season with an outrageous ranking, based on ESPN's biography, that played 24/7 during pre-season, of Clemson's alleged dual threat running game. But they immediately plummeted. The only games they've put away all year were against Citadel, S. Carolina State, and Duke. Their only decent wins came against Boston College in a fluky game that featured the debut of their interim head coach, Swinney. And against South Carolina, an in-state rivalry that Clemson has owned for the last 7 years.Nebraska started the season needing to figure a few things out. Then went to Lubbock and took the Raiders to OT. And finished the season going away.Helu, Lucky and Ganz run crazy and Nebraska beats the stripes off the Tigers.Nebraska 45Clemson 17Big 12 goes 7-0 if Oklahoma's offensive line passes the test, and Ole Miss plays within themselves. And I think they will considering the game is in Tejas.

Just because Tech is the third best team in the Big 12 and Ole Miss is the fourth or fifth best team in the SEC does NOT mean they will "handle" them. I seriously doubt Tech could have played AT Florida and AT LSU and won...which of course, Ole Miss did. I am not an Ole Miss fan but I do respect what they have done this year. I love the Big 12 but they certainly don't play defense the way the SEC does. Now, I would also argue that the SEC (for the most part) does not play offense the way the Big 12 does. What I am saying is that game will be a lot different than what people expect. I wouldn't be surprised if Ole Miss comes away with a "W." However, you did also predict at the bottom of your post that Tech would lose. Aside from that, I don't see Oklahoma winning against Florida. I would love for the Big 12 to come out on top of this thing but I just can't see it.
