An ornament celebrating KU's national basketball title will hang on the Kansas Christmas tree in Washington, D.C.

ÊMike Yoder/Journal-World Photo.The Kansas Historical Society is featuring a Christmas ornament that marks the 2008 Kansas University men's basketball championship..The ornament is headed to Washington, D.C., where it will hang on the Kansas Christmas tree near the National Christmas tree. The ornament is the latest in a series of designs created by Topeka artist Anita Wolgast, who has designed many different ornaments for the official Christmas tree since 1981.
The 2008 Kansas University men’s basketball championship will be celebrated again in Washington, D.C. — this time in the form of a Christmas tree ornament.
The brass ornament will hang on the Kansas Christmas tree near the National Christmas tree.
It represents the latest in a series of designs created by Topeka artist Anita Wolgast, who has designed many different ornaments for the official Christmas tree since 1981.
The ornaments are available for purchase in Lawrence at KU campus bookstores and online at www.kansaschristmasornaments.com.
