McCormack to be added to Kansas Football Ring of Honor
NFL Hall of Famer played for KU from 1948-1950
Former Kansas football player Mike McCormack will be the newest member of the Kansas Football Ring of Honor, as he will be inducted during halftime of the Jayhawks’ Sept. 6 game against Louisiana Tech. McCormack, who played at KU from 1948-50, earned All-Big Seven distinction in 1950.
Perkins leading list of sports executives
Kansas University athletic director Lew Perkins appears to be on his way to being named Time Magazine’s “Top Sports Executive” of 2008. With fan voting continuing, Perkins on Wednesday remained No. 1 on the 35-person list.

As a redshirt junior last year, Marcus Herford earned a major name for himself as a killer kick returner. Herford was named Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year in a coaches’ vote and earned a spot on Phil Steele Magazine’s All-Big 12 First Team as a return specialist. Big 12 coaches, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Rivals.com also awarded him All-Big 12 Second Team Return Specialist honors.
