Kansas University’s next football opponent, Louisiana Tech, opened its season with an ugly 22-14 victory Saturday over Mississippi State in Ruston, La.

The teams combined for eight turnovers and 14 punts, but Tech claimed its first win over a Southeastern Conference school since 1999.

Saturday, Tech managed just 243 total offensive yards and 16 first downs, but recorded four interceptions.

La. Tech’s best weapon Saturday might have been kicker Brad Oestriecher, who was 3-for-3 on field goals, including a 48- and a 50-yarder.
