Beijing Former Kansas University standout Scott Russell, competing for Canada, advanced to the finals of the Olympics javelin competition today.
In rainy conditions, Russell slipped and fell but still threw 80.42 meters on his first throw to win Group A. Overall, he ranked sixth in qualifying.
The finals will be at 6:10 a.m. (Central time) Saturday.
