2008 KU football media day
Anderson complex helps KU beat preseason heat
Preseason workouts are underway for the Kansas football team, and while the Jayhawks are playing in 100 degree heat, they are able to relax afterward in their new practice facility.
Mark Mangino and the rest of the Kansas Jayhawks aren't about to shy away from the high expectations heaped on them after completing a 12-1 season a year ago.
In fact, the KU coach said his team needed to embrace its new standing as one of the favorites in the Big 12.
"There is nobody outside this program that has higher expectations than the kids here," Mangino said during media day on the KU campus Tuesday.
Mangino said his players had come to the first four days of practice with more confidence than in years past.
The Jayhawks might need it. Not only will they have a more difficult schedule, they'll also be out to show that they're a national powerhouse and not a one-hit wonder.
"We've still got to prove something," KU cornerback Ryan Murphy said. "Last year, that's just one season. We still didn't fulfill all the goals we wanted to do.
"... There's still a lot of room for improvement and a lot of things we want to accomplish. We're definitely hungry, and we know there's still a lot of doubters out there. We just want to go out and prove them wrong."

Where's 5DecadeHawk when you need him? Come on. Let's rip this kid a new one. This article represents everything that 5DecadeHawk has said he's hated. It's short and has no substance at all. Nothing that hasn't already been said a million times already. It's simply space filler, which is funny because you don't really need space filler online. You might have a hole in an actual newspaper that could be filled with this hack job because something's better than nothing. Online though, you really should only publish something worth reading.

Oh, I'm plenty chill. I'm just trying to point out all the hypocrisy that occurs on these comment boards. There's a double standard happening here, and it's not right.Mr. Arnett and Mr. Newell could right the EXACT same story. Mr. Newell would get nothing but praise about it because he's a kU grad. Mr. Arnett would get a thousand angry comments calling for his head just because he's a Mizzou grad. It's basically racism if you think about it.

You guys need to stop commenting on the quality of the stories. This isn't Reporting 1 and you're not TedFred. No one cares what you thought of the story. Let's talk football and the great team we're about to field.

Expectations are high for the Hawks, and they should be. We have a veteran team and good reserves. I live in Missouri and the Tiger faithful are talking national championship. Unfortunately, for them, they have to play the Hawks, and that will spell the end of their national championship aspirations.

Don't badgers live in holes in the ground? Like I've been saying, a badger is a ferret. GoBadger lives in his mother's basement, a hole in the ground.Unfortunately nothing we can say will deter him, because he's got nothing else. Not even his own town wants him. I've never heard him mention a single Wisconsin player. So basically we've got an exiled ferret. That's okay ferret. Ron Dayne was kind of fun to watch. So was... uh... the basketball team did kinda... ?? uh... hmm.Get a job ferret. Maybe you could dig holes and act tough, while foxes slip through your cute little paws?

GoFerret, you're an idiot. You keep posting the same video of the same fox escaping the same ferret.
