Stillwater, Okla. Buck Afenir hit a two-run homer, and Erik Morrison had three hits, but it was not enough. Oklahoma State scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to break open a tight game and take a 10-3 victory Saturday over Kansas.
The Cowboys moved to 31-11 overall and 13-7 in conference play, while the Jayhawks fell to 25-21 and 5-12 in the Big 12.
In a game that mirrored Friday night's contest through the first five innings, Oklahoma State clung to a 2-1 lead until it had a big inning late in the game.
Kansas took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Robby Price in the second inning. However, that was all the offense the Jayhawks could muster until a seventh inning two-run homer by Afenir. KU left nine men on base through the first six innings, including six in scoring position.
Afenir's seventh home run of the season cut the deficit to 6-3.
The Jayhawks will look to salvage the final game of the series at 1 p.m. today.
