KU falls to Shockers

The first time around, Wichita State left their mark on Hoglund Ballpark with a 7-3 win over the Jayhawks. Tonight, it was KU's turn to fight back against the Shockers.

— A six-run outburst in the fourth inning gave Wichita State all the scoring it needed Tuesday as the Shockers beat Kansas, 6-4.

The Jayhawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third inning before Wichita State (31-7) responded an inning later. Kansas (25-19) got one run in the sixth and two in the seventh, but it wasn't enough to overtake the Shockers.

Clinton McKeever had three hits and two RBIs to lead the Wichita State offense.

John Allman and Tony Thompson each homered for the Jayhawks. Tyler Fleming (3-1) gave up four hits and one run in four innings to record the win. Shaeffer Hall gave up six runs on eight hits in 32â3 innings to take the loss.

At least they are play quality opposition. Now to be able to beat someone on this level!
