I wonder why KU decided to stop playing like spoiled brats because of the MU football vs merchants ordeal. Glad they decided to grow up and "allow" the parade.

While the football team's season was its best ever... they are not National Champions. I think parades are for National Champs, World Champs...Not to downplay what the football team did, but we are celebrating something very big here and the Orange Bowl is not as big.

Classy, KU. Thank you, it's only right that we get to crowd Mass St. up once more in reverence of this amazingly awesomely mind-blowing team.

Nah, I've been saying all along that we need a combined parade for football and bball. The Orange Bowl victory IS a national title by KU football standards. It would be such a fun way to celebrate the great year of these two teams!

I'm not sure about the "wising up" comment. Haven't we had parades for the past two National Championship Basketball teams at KU. I think a parade was a foregone conclusion. I agree with JasonHoh about the football team. I am thrilled about their accomplishment but parades are reserved for National Collegiate Champions. To say that an Orange Bowl victory is a national title by "KU football" standards sells our program short. I think Mangino and the boys would agree that they'd reserve a parade for being National champs.

KU,My feelings about this win go well beyond anything I could articulate in words. I trust similar feelings have been stirred in other fans here. I really do think that we have the best, most knowledgable fans in the country. The ICING on this win:1. First time all number one seeds made it, Kansas wins.2. Bill Self steps out of Roys shadow as he a.) beats UNC en route to the championship, and b.) accomplishes an NCAA championship, which Roy never did while here at Kansas. Im so glad that we finally got closure on the Williams situation.3. Comes on the 20th anniversary of Danny and the Miracles' '88 win.4. Danny and Larry were in the house to witness it.5. We took out the winningest basketball team in NCAA Division I history.6. The love for this team...WOW! You couldn't invest your love in a better bunch of kids.7. Kansas, with 3 national championships, moves up the ladder, further establishing our greatness as a program. Were in not for one point in the 57 OT loss to UNC, we would have FOUR wins to their THREE. 8. The stock for our players in the draft justifiably rose: http://nbadraft.net/9. Self will be rewarded with a contract he deserves.10. All of Jayhawk Nation can bask in the glory of a championship and revel in the national prestige and attention. We are a PROUD group of fans! This is the cradle of basketball and it feels good to bring the championship back home.hail to old ku!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I want to add that I thought i heard somewhere it was the first time any team has beat two number 1 seeds to win the championship.

pmohr13...You're right. I heard Max F. say that yesterday. I guess that was the first time someone beat 2.But I think Arizona actually beat 3 No. 1's in 1997 to win the Championship.

"Kansas, with 3 national championships, moves up the ladder, further establishing our greatness as a program. Were in not for one point in the 57 OT loss to UNC, we would have FOUR wins to their THREE."Don't forget that we also lost by 1 point in '53 (I believe it had something to do with a missed free throw). In fact, I think we're the only team to have two championship-game losses by one point. Throw in the three-point loss to Syracuse and the seven-point loss to Duke (which I believe was a 1-point game with two minutes to go) and KU is SO close to having seven championships and being tied with UK for second on the list. But Mario's Shot (which of course has to always be capitalized) makes up for an awful lot of heartache over the years.Jross, you put things beautifully. I can't tell you how often I've had to remind myself that we're actually champions. It still doesn't seem real. I keep thinking I'll wake up one of these days and Davidson's shot will have gone in or UNC will have come all the way back or Mario will have missed. It's absolutely incredible to have won it this way. And I've already watched One Shining Moment at least 10 times. I think I could watch it 1000 times and get chills every time.Truly amazing.

Thanks to jross also for posting the mock draft. How fantastic would it be if Darnell ended up with the Celtics?!?!? Hopefully it wouldn't be at Pollard's expense, but assuming they both made the team we would have three ku players on the Celtics. I think they would naturally then have to change their name to the Boston Jayhawks! Of course that could be confusing since Chicago should also be called the Jayhawks.I disagree with those who say the parade should only be for the basketball team. Of course I understand their reasoning, but this was the greatest KU football team in history AND the greatest KU basketball team in history, which made it the greatest ku sports season in history. Let's celebrate all of it. I think this is a unique situation, and people should be able to celebrate 49-4. I mean, 49-4?!?!?!?!? No matter how many times I say it or think about it, it is utterly ridiculous!
