Kansas softball rolls late

— Dougie McCaulley's run-scoring fielder's choice in the top of the seventh broke a 1-all tie, then Liz Kocon crushed a grand slam and sealed Kansas University's 6-1 Big 12 softball victory Saturday over Baylor.

KU's Val George worked out of a jam in the bottom of the seventh. KU committed two errors to put the first two runners on base, but Chapple recorded a strikeout, groundout and popout to end it. George struck out five and allowed just the one run, earned, off eight hits.

Val George struck out five and allowed just one earned run off eight hits to pick up the victory.

KU improved to 29-9 overall, 3-2 Big 12. Baylor fell to 19-13, 2-6. The teams will play again at noon today.
