Twin brothers/blue chip basketball recruits Marcus and Markieff Morris returned to APEX Academies in New Jersey on Sunday after spending the weekend at Villanova University in a suburb of their hometown of Philadelphia.
"It was OK," 6-foot-8 forward Marcus said Sunday, referring to the visit. "We haven't made a decision yet. We hope to decide on Thursday."
The two have tentative plans to hold a news conference Thursday, likely in New Jersey, to announce their choice.
Marcus, the No. 37-rated player in the Class of 2008 by Rivals.com, and Markieff, the No. 78-rated player, signed with Memphis last year but recently were granted a release from their letters-of-intent. They had KU, 'Nova and St. John's on their list of schools, but recently eliminated St. John's.
"We'll talk about it every night and talk to different people then make a decision," Marcus said.

That doesn't sound too convincing. Here's hoping that the twins make the right decision and pick KU. Then bring on J'Mison Morgan.

"it was OK" ?
that's what you say after an all you can eat shrimp feast at red lobster, or after winning a "spend the day with leza gibbons" charity drawing, or after the car dealer throws in a pine cone air freshner, or after you watch the MU cheerleaders at halftime.
sounds like we can welcome the twins to the hill.

Morris Bros,
Come to KU! You'll love it here, play for an elite program, help win championships, be part of the annals of basketball history, play in the best building in all of basketball, be on national TV every week, be the big men on campus, and tons more...
We'd love to have you.

I agree with everyone else, "It was OK" doesn't sound like they were too impressed.

Are we looking at pieces 4, 5 and 6 to the seven man class this week? Morrises on Thursday, Morgan on Friday, then Willie Warren this spring to go with Releford, Little and Thomas. Who was the poster that panicked last month when Greg Monroe dropped us from consideration and said that Self couldn't recruit? I think we're okay, maybe better than that.

Don't read too much into the "It was OK" comment. You can never tell what the actual tone was and they may be carefully guarding their reactions to the press.
Did anyone read what their reaction was to Late Night? I thought they were here that weekend - right?

"Everything about this weekend was great," Marcus told JayhawkSlant.com. "It was just an awesome experience for my brother and I. We ate dinner at Coach (Bill) Self's house and got to chill with the players. The assistant coaches were real cool, too."

a little better than "OK"

"It was OK," 6-foot-8 forward Marcus said Sunday, referring to the visit. " Coach Wright let my brother use use the bathroom while I waited out on the porch. He then took us to McDonalds for a 99 cent special. On the way to play a pickup game with the team we got booed by some of the locals. It was OK.

Jay Wright is just as savvy as our man Bill. He quietly and quickly made them relevant and had a few turn pro let's keep in mind. There is a reason they are on the short list, and it aint just the cheesesteaks. Don't go setting the '08 line-up until they have the all too common teenage superstud ballers press conference. Go Hawks.

So the Villanova visit "was OK" and the KU visit "was a nice visit" and "a lot better than I thought." Man, these guys are hard to impress. Wonder if Jay Wright took them to Red Lobster like Afilmer says, or maybe just hired a magician and a Styx cover band. We have got to get a commitment from these kids, dammit.

Remember that these are teenage guys...they pretty much say "it was ok" to almost anything when asked.
It's what they tell their friends that counts. I would love to get these guys, but I'm not counting the chickens before they are hatched.

Did someone say a magician and a Styx cover band?...Hey, that sounds like my son's 14th Birthday Party this past week...that explains the two tall guys in the back that no one knew. They left early...said something about the party was OK but they had other plans and had to get going.

Yes, there is a big difference between Villanova and KU. But that can play in our advantage or it can work against us, depending on what players want.
Allen Fieldhouse is great, but playing in the NBA arena, Wachovia Center, for big games may be more exciting to them. Or suppose they prefer a more urban setting, which wouldn't be surprising since they are from the New York metro area.
I guess we'll see on Thursday.
I hope they commit. But if I had to choose, I would trade these two for Morgan. Self loves to have a big, physical banger in the middle, and Morgan would be a great fit.

rockchalkjayhawk81, you are an idiot. You've made the same "joke" now at least 5 or 6 times that I have seen, and even though I thought it was incredibly stupid the first time -- it has somehow managed to appear even dumber upon each subsequent installment. Your "joke" is racist and misogynist, and worst of all very unfunny. Do us all a favor and come up with a new one. Or do us an even bigger favor and just stop posting here altogether.
