K-State caps Old Spice Classic with W

? Andre Gilbert scored 22 points, Jacob Pullen added 19 points and five assists, and Kansas State held off Rider, 82-69, in the Old Spice Classic.

The Wildcats’ Michael Beasley had 13 points and 10 rebounds – his sixth double-double in six games, but well short of the 30-plus points he had been scoring. Walker added 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Jason Thompson led Rider (3-3) with 23 points. Young brother Ryan Thompson added 21 points and 12 rebounds.

K-State (5-1) led by as many as 17, but Rider pulled within 71-64 after Ryan Thompson made his second straight driving layup. He hit a third drive with 3:31 left to make it a four-point game, but the Broncs went the last 3:31 without a field goal.

No. 9 Washington State 71, Air Force 62

Spokane, Wash. – Derrick Low made six second-half 3-pointers and scored 19 points to help Washington State beat Air Force in the Cougar Hispanic College Fund Challenge.

No. 13 Duke 78,Eastern Kentucky 43

Durham, N.C. – Freshman Taylor King scored a career-high 27 points to lead Duke to a rout of Eastern Kentucky.

DeMarcus Nelson had 12 points, and Gerald Henderson added 10 for the Blue Devils (6-0).

USC 70, No. 19 S. Illinois 45

Anaheim, Calif. – Freshman Davon Jefferson scored 18 points, and Southern California blew out Southern Illinois in the second half in the inaugural Anaheim Classic title game.

North Carolina State 69, No. 20 Villanova 68

Lake Buena Vista, Fla. – Gavin Grant hit two of three free throws with 0.4 seconds left, and North Carolina State beat Villanova to win the Old Spice Classic Championship.

Big 12 Men

Missouri 91, Western Illinois 52

Columbia, Mo. – Missouri could have overlooked a Western Illinois team that sat in the middle of its toughest five-game span of the season.

Instead, the Tigers (5-1) started the game on a 15-2 run and extended the lead to 35 at halftime in their victory over the Leathernecks.

Missouri entered Sunday’s game coming off a win over Maryland and a loss to No. 10 Michigan State in last week’s CBE Classic. The Tigers have road games at Arkansas and California in the next week and a Dec. 8 home game against Purdue.
