University of Hawaii, KU share more than undefeated record

Only two Division I Football Bowl Subdivision schools remain undefeated at this late juncture in the college football season. One is, of course, the hometown Kansas Jayhawks. The other is the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. Though the two schools are separated by four time zones and nearly 3,600 miles - and good luck driving that - they share a bond beyond the goose eggs in the loss column.

Quarterbacks not prototypical - just productive

Missouri University quarterback Chase Daniel was in Columbia, Mo., on an unofficial visit while in high school, when he stopped at an ice cream shop to satisfy his sweet tooth. “Right when we were leaving, someone said, ‘Beat KU all four years you’re here, and we’ll still love you no matter the outcome.’” Daniel recalled with a laugh. No word on if the fan added, “By the way, where’s the rest of you?”

Jayhawks aiming for 600th in Allen

Kansas University’s men’s basketball team will shoot for its 600th victory in Allen Fieldhouse Wednesday night against Northern Arizona. It could be yet another festive evening in KU’s tradition-rich building provided the Jayhawks, who have a 599-106 all-time mark in Allen, take care of business, and if the enthusiastic student section is filled for a game played on Thanksgiving Eve.

Florida is back in the Top 25. The two-time defending national champions came into this season having lost the top six players from the team that repeated. It took the new group of Gators just two weeks to move into the Associated Press college basketball poll.

Mizzou throws scare into MSU

Drew Neitzel drifted along the baseline, brushed through a pick by Marquise Gray and spotted up in the corner. The high-arching shot was never in doubt, barely rippling the net as it passed through. After all but disappearing in the second half, Neitzel hit the shots when Michigan State needed it, and it still almost wasn’t enough.
