Wow, the 2:30pm ABC slot? And I was wondering if this game would even be televised. We are definitely being taken seriously now!

This works out..As it turns out Reesing should change his name to "Primetime" or perhaps "Rocket Man"

This is good news, but not so good for those of us HD addicts, as I'm sure it won't be in HD, much like it doesn't look like the OSU game will be in HD. It seems ABC only shows 1 or 2 games in HD. This week they're showing Ohio State-Illinois. That's weak, ABC, but thanks for the exposure.

As I recall, ABC games pay a lot more to the schools they are showing as well.

Last week someone was saying how due to blackouts and regional coverage of ABC games, even if you go to a sportsbar you may not be able to get the game you want because they pull the same crap with satellite providers. However I want to tell you that during the Nebraska game, I was also seeing three abc games being shown on different screens in the same bar. So...there may be hope for everyone still to catch the Hawks in action!
BTW - here it is Monday, and all I can think about is how I want it to be Saturday. This has been the pattern for the last 6 weeks. Know what I mean?
Oh, and of course...ESPN on ABC.

It's also not truly a nationally televised game. That's not to detract from the wonderful outcome of our season or the exposure that this does provide for our program. I couldn't be more thrilled as a fan that's watched the Hawks stink it up since I was a baby. BUT:ABC only shows games regionally. It really stinks. For those of us jonesin' for the Hawks out here on the west coast (or any other region other than the Midwest states,) we've got to find a bar that has an old satellite system to view the game. Otherwise we are Bob and Daviding it online, (a service you have to pay for.) Personally I would rather see it on Fox Sports Net in HD. They have pretty darn good coverage and it is truly national.

ok so for all you jayhawk fans that go out to the upper deck in scottsdale: will the OSU KU game be televised at the bar? and if im reading right the ISU game on ABC will only be on in the midwest right, meaning those of us here in az will have to watch some pac-10 game on ABC correct?

Is ESPN2 more national than ABC? I was in Kentucky during the A&M game and it was shown there.

Usually all the bars have ESPN Gameplan, and with that the ABC games will also be available with that package. That also goes for getting it on pay-per-view where you can buy the package for just the upcoming Saturday games.

shellysue-
ESPN cannot be shown regionally because it does not have individual affiliates like network tv (abc, nbc etc.) Therefore ESPN2 is "more national" than ABC.
Anyone else find it hilarious that ABC chose to show a cellar dweller in ISU play at KU instead of what seems to be a better matchup in Mizzou at K-State (FSN 11:30)?

kmarti - One warning about Upper Deck on the 17th: There is the potential for it to be overrun with Michigan fans since they play OSU at 11 AZ time on that date.

Sadly, I'm not sure that's true. I called Comcast to inquire about the possibility of buying the KU-OSU game, but they said I could only buy the entire season. I'm hoping that they told me that because I asked about a specific game and not an entire day, so maybe that will still work. But they told me it was either the entire season or nothing.

Here's the good news about us being in the 2:30CT/3:30ET slot - The other game(s) is/are "mirrored" on ESPN and or ESPN2, meaning that those of us not the the designated region can still possibly watch it on cable. Here's the link for you to check on ABC's coverage - check it about mid-week for details www.abcsports.com
That being said, this is SUCH a nice problem to have!! Rock Chalk!!
Speaking of Rock Chalk - I really didn't hear it at the end of the Nebraska game like I thought I should. What's up KU fans?? We better warm up the vocal chords and belt some Rock Chalk the next several weeks. The football nation needs to hear it!!

Rock Chalk was ringing out with about 4 mins left in the game, but I think we felt bad for the pathetic Husker fans as they left with their tail between their legs. The ones in front of me left at the end of the 3rd quarter. The were whooping it up in the first quarter.

I think if you are in Scottsdale, you should go to the Tilted Kilt to watch the game. They have multiple satellites, and the scenery is pretty decent too.

Meanwhile, Todd Reesing got screwed by the Big 12 office. He becomes the first player in a month NOT to become Big 12 Player of the Week after facing Nebraska. Of course, anyone else can do it while playing Nebraska, but God forbid that a Kansas man should earn the honor!

Leikness, I have lived in L.A. for a couple of years and hate watching big college football games at most of the sports bars around here. So I am pretty much in the same boat as you. I just posted a thread on this on the message board, so hopefully somebody down here in SoCal knows of a good place to sit and watch a game (and will tell us about it). It would also be nice to not be the only KU fan in what will inevitably a room full of USC fans begging for a higher ranked team to lose.

Liekness,
Check with the LA alumni association, as they will probably be having a watch party.
Otherwise I would recommend Barney's Beanery or Big Wangs, they're both OK, but LA doesn't have nearly enough good sports bars.

You guys realize with our game starting at 2:30 we can watch most of the K-State Mizzou game that starts at 11:30 while we tailgate. The bad news is that both teams are pass heavy and will score a lot of points so the game wont be over until after the Hawks have taken the field.
But, if we dont beat Oklahoma State on Saturday than the outcome between K-State and Mizzou means nothing in our pursuit of a north division crown.

Fabio I have a feeling the mizzou k state game is going to go fast because the worst QB ever Freemen will try to throw every pass to Jordy in double coverage and throw a pick. (haha) thats the felling I have

Mizzou needs to win v. KState. The best case scenario is to beat a Mizzou team that has stayed to that one loss and is a top 5 or 6 team. The next two weeks will not be an easy road for us, however. Hopefully the secondary picks it up.

"Anyone else find it hilarious that ABC chose to show a cellar dweller in ISU play at KU instead of what seems to be a better matchup in Mizzou at K-State?"
I'm sure it's just because they recognize what a powerhouse ISU is. After all, they beat a Big 10(11) team, and awesome KSU, which beat Texas on the road, and they only lost to Misery by 14. We may even be underdogs at home! ;)
BTW, thanks to all the Phoenix/Scottsdale posters giving sites for watching the game. I am stuck here until Monday.
