ABC may televise KU-MU game, kickoff time TBA

ABC is exercising a six-day window to decide which game it wants to broadcast on Nov. 24, it was announced Thursday.

The network originally had to decide by Thursday whether it wanted to televise Kansas-Missouri or Oklahoma-Oklahoma State that day. But it instead will decide after the games on Nov. 17, using its third six-day window option this year.

ABC will televise a game at 7 p.m. that day. Fox Sports Net will pick up the other game and show it at 2:30 p.m.

Oh god how great would a 7pm start be!!!!! All day to get fired up for that one, but also all day to drink and develop more liquid hatred for Mizzou...I just hope there aren't massive rumbles in the parking lot if we get the ABC nod, I mean, they DO probably want Mizzou fans in the stands as opposed to St. Lukes... =)

Another ABC game would sure be great for revenue and exposure. I am not going to complain either way.

It would be nice if there was a way to know how many tickets were sold to this game through the KU ticket office and season ticket packages. I hope we have at least 70% of the fans there.

wouldnt it kick some a$$ if college gameday made the trip! That would be awesome. Too bad the game isn't at memorial stadium. I hate having it played at arrowhead!

When are you guys gonna quit whining about the neutral field. If youve got a problem with neutral venues then college football isnt for you. Its just how it is, now get over it already. All these people whining obviously dont travel to watch the team or they would be happy we dont have to go to Columbia in 08.
Damn! Enough is enough!

Living in St. Louis, I have to deal with "Obnoxious Mizzou Fan Syndrome" on a regular basis. Its not all bad, I usually like it actually.

But its sooooooo funny how the thought that KU outdoing they're success right now during they're "Magical Season" (you know, as opposed to OURS) just gets they're goat.

I've got a lot of Mizzou friends, and most arent that obnoxious. The thought of our Football team outdoing they're football teams success still kills them though. I love it.

Like Id be dissapointed in the Cotton Bowl or Holiday Bowl. But if we got into the BCS (god forbid) and the ended up in the Cotton or Holiday it would just kill them.

They sure are an entertaining bunch though.

fabio, bringing a big stick today!

BPS, that is funny about your MU friends. I seem to recall, there was a study done several years back, I believe by Princeton. They rated the top party colleges and such in the US. They also had a category for the most disgruntled students. Guess who checked in at numero uno? You got it - - MizzWho?!!

I've commented on this on a different article, but the problem with the ABC telecasts is that they tend to be regional and not a true national telecast. Therefore, those of us on the coasts again are stuck watching some crap ACC/Big East/PAC-10 team that we could care less about and isn't even a close game. I would much prefer that ESPN pick up the game or some other cable network. That way, I know I'll get the game on my satellite. That said, I knew it would get picked up by someone.

Skelly - I too lived in St. Louey and you're right, the fact that they finally have their "break-thru" season and here we are, matching them step-for-step. Would be sweet if Pinkel goes back on the hot seat if he loses to us again?? That would be like 1-5 head-to-head against Mangino, enough to piss off any and all Mizzou alums to the point of getting rid of him for that reason alone.

Ahh, is it Saturday yet??????

The thing about the game being in Week 14, there aren't a whole lot of other games to compete with for ABC coverage. Check out this schedule:

http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/scorebo...

Some of the times are already set. My guess is if KU and MU win out until then, there won't be many other games they would rather televise than 10-1 MU vs. 11-0 KU!

Those of you hoping for a 7pm prime time are going to be severly disappointed.

Sorry to say but the Big 12 North title is going to already be decided by then ;-)

We'll simply be playing to decide which BCS game we get to go to.

Hey guys check this out! Great interview with Talib and a very interesting ending to it. I'm not going to hold him to his word because we all know the temptations of all that money can be hard to pass up, but at least there is a shot he'll be back to defend the Big 12 North Title!!!

BPSkelly, you've obviously been hanging out with Mizzou fans too much because your grammar is going to crap. Their not "they're." It's alright though. Their intellegence has just rubbed off on you a bit.

As for the prime time spot on TV...I sure hope so. I've wanted it that way all year. Rock Chalk!!

ttoulouse-

I 100% sympathize with you, but should the game be the 7pm one your complaint will be moot--that one, I believe, is nationally telecast. it's the 2:30 ones that are regional.

And to bdsnook--you would think that it would be as simple as to go to the nearest watering hole with a sports package, but with ABC, CBS, etc...they make it so the ONLY game you get to watch is the regional game whether you have a sports package or not. happened to me a couple years back when I was in Chicago, the bar I went to was unable to change it to the KU-Texas game from a big ten gm and it was not available with the satellite package or whatever they had. The way the game turned out, didn't miss much anyway!

bmcmich1, that sounds like the conundrum Fox Saturday Baseball presents. Last year however, I was able to go to a Fox and Hound here in the DFW area and watch the KU vs. MU football game.

The only thing that will be bad about it being at Arrowhead, is the fact that Missouri fans are gonna be drunk, and can drink throughout the game. Missouri fans + alcohol + losing to KU = drunk road rage after the game. Not good for those of us still breathing.

bdsnook (anonymous) says...

Ahh, that would explain those maps they show on the satelite channels before games start. That's too bad, ttoulouse; thanks for the insight bmcmich.

txrockchalk, that game was televised on ABC in that region (I was in DFW too and watched it at my parents' house).

The biggest problem I have with the game at Arrowhead is that all those drunk people will be paying taxes in Missouri to get drunk!

Nah, if you a have a decent sports bar, they should have EVERY game. Your dude just didn't want to get off the Big/Loser10 game. I got the KU/MU game at a sports bar in the middle of SEC territory. My advice to you, if you don't get the main feed, is get to your waterin ho(not misspelling)and ask them to put the game on one of the big sets. Has worked for me a couple times

PS--Who the hell in SC, Georgia, Alabama or Mississippi is into Mich/Mich St? Man, them southerners gettin it put to em again.

KU Coaches, players (and fans if possible) should keep their heads only on the next opponent. Who cares what anyone else thinks of us? Let's just play the best game we can Saturday and shake Nebraska's hands. They're good people. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

bdsnook, that is interesting. My recollection is somewhat different. On the DFW ABC station (WFAA), for some inexplicable reason, at 11am CT they were showing the Florida vs. Florida State game. I thought for sure they were going to show the KU vs. MU game since DFW is in Big 12 territory. However, I was left scrambling at the last minute to find a place that was showing it. Maybe they realized the error in their ways and switched over to our game in progress.

Wasn't the point of moving the game to Arrowhead to get national exposure. If ABC doesn't pick up this game for a primetime matchup that would be dissapointing. After KU pounds OSU and shuts down that offense it should be clear which game should be on ABC. The only thing I think we would have to worry about is Mizzou dropping a game before the big matchup.
