Kansas City, Mo. — Kansas University junior Annie Giangrosso has qualified for the U.S. Women's Open sectional qualifier June 11 in Glen Ellyn, Ill.

Giangrosso, an Overland Park native, shot 75 on Monday at Blue Hills Country Club to tie for first at the Open local qualifier and advance to sectionals.

KU senior Amanda Costner did not advance after shooting an 85.

Previously, Giangrosso and Costner were regional qualifiers for the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship in 2005 and 2006.

Giangrosso won the Kansas Women's Golf Association Amateur championship a year ago.
