College Station, Texas — After putting the wraps on a wild victory just more than 12 hours earlier, the Kansas University baseball team found itself on the wrong side of see-saw battle Sunday, wasting a big early lead in a 10-9 loss to No. 8 Texas A&M in the rubber game of a three-game series.

The Jayhawks (13-11 overall, 1-2 Big 12 Conference) scored four runs in both the third and fourth innings to grab an early 8-2 advantage, and also held a 9-6 lead entering the bottom of the eighth.

However, the Aggies (20-3, 2-1) tied the score with three runs in the eighth against KU reliever Andres Esquibel (3-1) before pushing across the winning tally in the ninth on Darby Brown's RBI single.

Esquibel allowed four runs - three earned - while recording just five outs in relief of KU starter Andy Marks, who lasted 61â3 innings while allowing six runs on eight hits.

Kyle Nicholson (6-1) earned his second relief win of the series, limiting the Jayhawks to just one run over the final five innings after KU tagged Texas A&M starter Jason Meyer with the early damage.

Freshman Robby Price finished 2-for-5 with three RBIs for the Jayhawks, while Kyle Murphy and Dylan Parzyk each contributed two hits as well.

KU will return home for a two-game series against Northern Colorado, with the first game scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday at Hoglund Ballpark.
