Extra Minutes: Kansas 67, Kansas State 61
Tying up loose ends from the game that sealed KU’s three-game season sweep of in-state rival Kansas State Saturday in Oklahoma City. KU didn’t have its flashiest effort of the season, but thanks to a Mario Chalmers-led run early in the second half, the Jayhawks advance to Sunday’s title game against Texas, who they beat 90-86 a week ago in Lawrence.
KU gets TKO over K-State, 67-61
OKLAHOMA CITY -A free throw-fest finished up the game, as Mario Chalmers led KU with 16 points. Julian Wright had 12, including a late bucket in the lane and a nifty dish to Darrell Arthur, both of which helped KU ice K-State for the third time this season. Sherron Collins was the third Jayhawk in double figures, scoring 10, including two three-pointers. Cartier Martin led all scorers with 17 points, while Lance Harris had 16 and Akeem Wright had 12 for K-State. KU will take on the winner of Texas and Oklahoma State tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Ford Center.

Rush keys second-half run that ousts OU
Brandon Rush’s coach ordered him to be more aggressive in the second half. Freshman ends 2-game scoreless jag
Sherron Collins’ scoring is back. Sort of. Kansas University’s freshman guard had a goose egg in each of his last two games in terms of point production. So to have simply an average outing - eight points on 4-of-8 shooting - in KU’s 64-47 victory over Oklahoma on Friday was almost a bit of a relief.

Wildcats hungry for another bite

Big 12 Tournament briefs
Don’t worry, Jayhawks fans. The NBA can wait for Brandon Rush. The guy in the No. 25 jersey said as much Friday, with a smile as wide as a youngster dreaming of a professional career and eyes focused crisply on postseason championships.
