First of all, I think it's safe to say that times have changed a bit over the last 116 years.

Plus, the two biggest sports, football and basketball, require hours upon hours in both the gym and on the practice field, not to mention community and media obligations on top. I don't know what kind of super scholars some people expect those guys to be, but a C is considered average and 2.73 is certainly above average. Considering all the extracurricular things these athletes have to take care of, THAT AIN'T BAD. Sheesh, give these guys a freakin break. Congrats to all the athletes--contrary to what some may say, it's still a pretty tough task and admirable accomplishment to get a college degree; no matter what GPA you had.

JayhawkPhil and jhwkfan1625,

You two are an embarrassment.

These guys spend numerous hours on and off the court so you can sit on your a$$ and watch them compete on an elite stage. Show some respect or don't call yourselves Jayhawk fans.

What did JayhawkPhil do wrong? He just said it was something to be proud of. I don't think he meant it with any sarcasm, he was just happy.

As for jhwkfan1625, I completely agree that the guy is way out of line for looking for something negative where nothing negative exists. The academic bar is raising for Jayhawk athletics and that is nothing but positive. Even if you're not happy with some of the teams, there's one sure fire way to put pressure on them and that is to publicly compare them to other KU athletes.

Keep up the good work teams, you make us proud.!
