KU jumps to No. 3 in both polls

After going 2-0 over the past week, and thanks to some help from the outside, KU jumped from No. 6 to a No. 3 ranking in both the Associated Press poll and the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' poll Monday afternoon.

Ohio State, who defeated Wisconsin 49-48 on Sunday, is the unanimous No. 1 in both polls, followed by UCLA. Florida, who was ranked No. 3 a week ago, lost 66-56 at LSU Saturday, marking its second defeat in three games. North Carolina, who was No. 5, lost Sunday night, 89-87, at Maryland after letting go of a big second half lead.

Wisconsin is directly behind KU in fourth in the AP poll, followed by Florida, Memphis, Texas A&M, North Carolina, Georgetown and Nevada to round out the Top 10.

KU takes on Oklahoma (15-12) tonight in Norman at 8 p.m., and finishes the regular season Saturday with an 11 a.m. tip-off at home against No. 15 Texas.

If KU takes care of business tonight, it will have just one more (major) game before the BigXII tourney... Texas (No. 15) at home on Saturday.

One game at a time...

...and here's hoping that UT can give us a gift (on Wednesday) like Tech did.

I'll drink to that. However, that won't matter if we don't crush the 'Land Grabbers' tonight.

Indeed... a KU win tonight, a UT win Wednesday and then another KU win Saturday would be ideal.

Although I'm not sure which I'd prefer: a one seed outside the midwest or a two seed here in the midwest where we would play in Chicago and St Louis.

Seems the home court advantage both sites could offer might outweigh a one seed played out on a coast.

If A&M wins their last two and wins there first two in the conference tournament I expect they would get a one seed over us with an identical conference record and beating us in Lawrence and playing in the more competitive south. Lets hope Texas can knock them off Wednesday.
None of that will matter though if KU dosent take care of business tonight.
Ive seen the Sooners a couple times this year and they dont look too hot but we have never had much success in Norman.

He'll play, but Collins will most likely start and play majority of minutes.

Self said RR is available, but no further detail if he would play or not.

I doubt we get a one seed, our RPI numbers are too low, we will probably be given a two seed. (knock on wood). However given a lot of the probable 3 and 4 seeds I would almost rather be a playing a 3, as the fours are harder for KU to handle. (e.g. I would rather play memphis than duke).

As long as the first team we play doesn't begin with a "B".

Yeah, right now, I'm not concerned with rankings and seedings. Even though I've had my share of discusions about it, the only thing that matters right now is winning. The seeds will take care of themselves and as long as we play, it won't matter who we play or where because we are as good and in most cases better than every team in the country.

I do agree that having more of a home crowd would definitely go a long way with giving the guys some energy to feed off of. Although, whether we get a #1 or #2 seed, I think we have an excellent shot at remaining close to home. If we sneak in to the top line, it would be for either UNC or Wisconsin (judging by two slip ups by Wisc. and two in four games for UNC), which I think would put us in San Antonio either way (Current #1's are according to Bracketology). With Ohio St. staying in St. Louis, and UCLA staying in San Jose, both UNC and Wisconsin are both closer to East Rutherford than SanAntonio. So, either way I think we still end up with good regions, plus we'd still play in Chicago for the first two rounds. So, the way I see it is, as long as we take care of business tonight, Saturday and in OKC, we'll be just fine no matter where we're seeded or ranked. So Rock Chalk Jayhawk!!! But the wheels off their Sooner wagons!!!

I dont think you should hurry RR back into the lineup. Better to take another game off and come back healed than to jump the gun, play him to soon, and play with a nagging injury the rest of the season.

I say to sit him out for precautionary reasons.

Robinson is fine, he said he could of even played last game if they needed him. Collins is a decent replacement and his offense may, don't quote me on this, be a little better then Russels.. Rockem Hawks!!

I have now fully come to the conclusion joe linardi doesn't know what he is talking about. How can UNC still be a number 1 seed and be ranked 8th?

I love it! What a great way to end the article! But hopefully there won't be too many more like it. The more KU can stay under the radar (even at # 3), the better.
