San Diego, Calif. The Kansas University softball team completed five innings against Massachusetts before rain forced a delay and, ultimately, the end of the contest in a 1-all tie.
KU was led offensively by freshman Amanda Jobe, who went 2-for-2. Sophomores Dougie McCaulley and Elle Pottorf, whose RBI double in the fourth scored the tying run, each added a hit.
Senior Kassie Humphreys threw a one-hitter, striking out three and walking five in five innings.
The Jayhawks will head east this weekend for the Sunshine State Tournament in Tallahassee, Fla. KU will face South Carolina, Florida State, Jacksonville and Memphis in the three-day invitational.
