Winston-Salem N.C. Kansas University's women's tennis team dropped a nonconference match to Syracuse, 4-3, Saturday.
Kansas opened doubles play by getting an 8-5 win from its No. 1 tandem of junior Elizaveta Avdeeva and sophomore Edina Horvath. Avdeeva and Horvath are now a perfect 5-0 in doubles play this spring.
The Jayhawks then got singles wins from freshman Kunigunda Dorn in the No. 2 position, Horvath in the No. 3 spot and junior Lauren Hommell in the No. 4 match. However, KU lost the No. 1 and No. 5 contests and were forced to surrender the No. 6 point to the Orange, securing the win for SU.
Kansas will face No. 19 Wake Forest today.
