Baton Rouge, La. Kevin Rogers scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Baylor used strong scoring in the paint to beat Southern University, 71-60, on Friday in a nonconference matchup.
Rogers was one of three Baylor players in double-figures. Aaron Bruce scored 14, including two from three-point range, and Curtis Jerrells added 10. The Bears had 34 points in the paint compared to 22 for Southern and scored 18 points off turnovers.
Baylor (9-1) held a commanding 40-24 lead at the half.
