Manhattan Kansas University sophomore Jordan Scott set a meet record in the men's pole vault and was one of three Jayhawks to win their events at the season-opening KSU All-Comers track and field meet Saturday.
Scott won with a vault of 5.24 meters (17-2.25 feet). Scott broke the record he set last year by a half an inch.
Senior Julius Jiles won the men's 60-meter dash in a time of 7.96 seconds, while sophomore Lauren Bonds won the women's 3,000-meter run as the first of three consecutive Jayhawks to cross the finish line.
Bonds completed the event in 10:13.89, with Hayley Harbert finishing second in a time of 10:21.15, and Kellie Schneider finished third in 10:50.48.
The Jayhawks will return to action Jan. 11 at the Arkansas Invitational.
