Waco, Texas Kansas University's Amanda Costner shot a 1-under-par 71 and grabbed sole possession of first place after the first day of the Big 12 women's golf championships at Baylor's Ridgewood Country Club.
As a team, KU tied for seventh place with Nebraska after the first 18 holes, totaling 312 strokes.
Costner, who placed seventh at the 2004 Big 12 Championship, had seven birdies and five pars.
