Final schedules taking shape

Pencil in a few updates to Kansas University's 2006-07 men's basketball schedule.

The time of the KU-DePaul game, Dec. 2 at Chicago's Allstate Arena, has been set for 1 p.m. Also, the KU-Iowa State game on Jan. 13 in Ames will be a 1 p.m. tip.

KU's game at Texas Tech on Jan. 20 will be a 3 p.m. tip, not the previously announced time of 11 a.m.

KU is looking to add one final game to the men's slate.

The women's schedule has been completed with the addition of a Jan. 17 home game against Sacramento State, set for 7 p.m.

Some women's game times previously unannounced have been set. The Jan. 24 game at Kansas State will be 7 p.m.; the Feb. 3 game at Texas A&M; 3 p.m.; the Feb. 10 game at Texas 5 p.m., and the Feb. 24 game at Colorado, 8 p.m.

¢ Clinic on tap: The 2006 Bill Self Kansas basketball coaches clinic will be held on Oct. 28.

The annual event, which includes presentations by the KU coaching staff, an invitation to Kansas practice and a ticket to the KU football game versus Colorado, will be held in Allen Fieldhouse.

The cost of the clinic is $55 per pre-registered coach and $60 for coaches who do not pre-register.

A clinic brochure is available at

¢ Recruiting: Anthony Randolph, a 6-foot-10 senior forward from Dallas, will make an official recruiting trip to Kansas for the Oct. 13 Late Night in the Phog. He will be joined by 6-8 senior Kyle Singler of South Medford, Ore., and Cole Aldrich, 6-11 from Bloomington, Minn. Aldrich has already committed to KU. ... Coaches from KU, Arkansas and Missouri State were to watch Roeland Park Miege junior guard Travis Releford play in an open gym situation on Tuesday night at Miege's gym, reports. He's also considering North Carolina, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Wichita State and Virginia. ... Jon Leuer, a 6-10 forward from Orono, Minn., visited Notre Dame last weekend. He will visit Iowa, Louisville and Minnesota in coming weeks. Leuer, who has visited Iowa State, remains on KU coach Bill Self's radar, but has not been offered a scholarship yet.

A simple answer to a simple-minded statement... If you don't agree with the "irresponsibility" of selling 21 tickets to a confirmed 20 games, DON"T BUY THEM!!!

Releford is considering Missouri State? THAT would be a serious win for them if he goes!!!

Let's see if Bucknell or Bradley will come play us again.

I agree with Solomon. We don't even know who the potential opponents might be or the potential game date/time. As for gthejayhawk, I am sure you know that canceling season ticket orders are not that easy. If you give up your tickets, you are placed back on the waiting list and it could be years before you are able to get back on (unless you have $10,000 to spare to give to the Athletic Fund).

As a season ticket holder who lives a long way from Lawrence, it hinders my ability to plan a visit to AFH when a game is scheduled at the last minute. As it happened last year, a last-minute game was scheduled that forced KU to cancel one of its other games. Without going into the details, I'll just say that it ended up costing me a lot of money to change my travel plans (mostly because it happened during the peak of the holiday travel season).

Wasn't the late change last year made to accommodate the New Orleans team that had lost considerably more than a few bucks? It was very unusual. As for selling season tickets with one unnamed game, just think how many complaints there would be if they had waited long enough to catch one final add before they started selling them.

Really?!? Someone's complaining about an EXTRA game to watch the Hawks? Must be rough. Man, what a horrible trial to have to sit there and enjoy the 'good guys' playing one more home game...

Gee, wish I could be in some other town NOT watching them on some crappy tv coverage that only shows boring east coast teams 'finesse' all over each other.
