Tony Moore converted a crucial fourth down in overtime and later scored on a 4-yard run to give Army a 27-20 victory over Baylor on Saturday night. A week after Army’s upset bid against Texas A&M ended 6 yards from the end zone after a run by Moore on the game’s last play, the Black Knights overcame a 10-0 deficit and two botched field goal attempts by Austin Miller.

Marlon Lucky ran for 156 yards and three long touchdowns and Kenny Wilson ran for 106 yards and two scores in No. 23 Nebraska’s 56-0 victory over Troy on Saturday night. It was a dominating performance by the Cornhuskers (3-1), who had been criticized for coach Bill Callahan’s conservative offensive game plan in last week’s 28-10 loss at Southern California.

Texas was cruising to another Big 12 win when the weather put everything on hold for more than an hour. No matter. By the time the rain and lightning had cleared, Iowa State was in no position to mount much of a rally. Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy engineered another efficient game with a pair of touchdown passes Saturday to lead No. 7 Texas to a 37-14 victory in the Big 12 opener for both teams.

At times, Chase Daniel looked like a player making only his fourth career start. But Missouri’s sophomore quarterback hit more than enough high notes to help his team complete a perfect non-conference schedule. Daniel threw two touchdown passes to Will Franklin and ran for another score, compensating for a lost fumble and interception in Missouri’s 31-6 victory over Ohio on Saturday.

Georgia squeaks by CU, 14-13
Freshman Joe Cox may have won more than a game with his fourth-quarter performance Saturday for No. 9 Georgia. Cox rescued Georgia, throwing two touchdown passes in the last 9:11 - the second a 20-yarder with 46 seconds left - and the Bulldogs came back to beat winless Colorado 14-13.
Louisville hands Kansas State first loss
Cardinals beat Wildcats 24-6
Hunter Cantwell is no Brian Brohm, and No. 8 Louisville’s high-scoring offense was not exactly its old self, either. Nevertheless, the Cardinals overcame three turnovers and pulled themselves together behind backup quarterback Cantwell for a ragged 24-6 victory over Kansas State on Saturday. Starting in place of Heisman-hopeful Brian Brohm, who was injured in last week’s 31-7 rout of then-No. 17 Miami, Cantwell threw for 173 yards and a touchdown.
Final: KU 13, USF 7
Tonight’s 6 p.m. kickoff at Memorial Stadium will not only be the first meeting between KU and South Florida, but will also feature two of the top freshmen quarterbacks in the country.

Dan Hawkins’ infectious personality was one of the things that excited Mike Bohn when he was looking for a coach to replace Gary Barnett at the University of Colorado. Junior cornerback Terrence Wheatley said Hawkins’ upbeat attitude is keeping the Buffs from drowning in their doldrums.

Tony Hills signed with Texas as one of the best tight end prospects in the country. Three years later, he hasn’t caught a pass. But no worries. Turnovers focus for KU
Kansas University’s football team may find out that late whistles can lead to more turnovers. The Jayhawks, mired in a takeaway funk as they head into today’s 6 p.m. game against South Florida, have tried several different approaches to force more turnovers. One is to blow the whistle later than normal at the end of plays in practice, so defenders can keep clawing and scratching for a strip that could turn into a recovered fumble.
