? Kansas University’s Elizaveta Avdeeva and Edina Horvath won the championship of the doubles draw on Sunday, concluding a successful weekend for the Jayhawks at the ITA Central Region Championships.

Avdeeva and Horvath now are eligible for selection into the National Collegiate Indoor Fall Championships. The ITA will choose between KU’s duo and the winner of the doubles bracket from the Utah site of the ITA Regional Championships.

Avdeeva and Horvath opened the day by routing Arkansas’ top-seeded team of Bordeleau and Kaluder, 8-1, then defeated Airepetion and Franco, also from Arkansas, 8-3 in the final.

The KU duo cruised through the entire tournament, winning matches by a combined score of 48-19.

Avdeeva also had a strong tournament in singles play, advancing to the quarterfinals of the main draw.

Should Avdeeva and Horvath be selected to compete at the Indoor Championships, they will head to the campus of Ohio State University for the three-day tournament, which is to begin Nov. 2.
