Reed to choose Kansas today

Tyrel Reed, a senior point guard from Burlington (Kan.) high school, has called a 3 p.m. news conference today - the last day of the early college basketballl signing period - to announce his college choice.

His dad - and high school coach - Stacy, said Wednesday morning the finalists are Kansas, Stanford, Missouri, Oklahoma and Missouri State.

Sources told the Journal-World this morning Reed's choice is Kansas.

Reed, who led Burlington to an undefeated regular season last year before being upset in the first round of the Class 3A state tournament, averaged 22.6 points, 6.1 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 3.8 steals per game as a junior. He ranks as the No. 99 prospect in the class of 2007 by, and is classified the No. 14 point guard.

He was on hand for an unofficial visit at last Saturday's 91-57 Kansas University opening night victory over Northern Arizona.

It would be amazing to have a Kansas kid on the team. I can't wait.

Yeah, three of them to be exact. Morningstar, Kleinmann and Bechard

How could Miz-zero even be on the same list as KU?!? The way that list read was like this...

"Stacy, said Wednesday morning the finalists are Kansas, Ivy, just-joking, no way in hell, and mid-major."

Didn't we also pick up a player from Humboldt as a walk-on?

I'm surprised he was considering Misery ......Missouri over Wichita State in the first place! Damn glad he's a Jayhawk now though! Kinda reminds me of Kirk Hinrich!

We have good kansas kids, but not as good as this kid. What a dream come true for this kid!

YEA, BABY!! The last time we had this many Kansans on a team we went to the Final Four several times and won it all in '88!!

He is a good player and a hard worker. He does remind me of Hinrich. We will see what happens when he gets here. GO HAWKS!

Wish we could have signed a wing...we have a glut of guards. But nonetheless, I'm glad we got Reed. He'll be a good player at KU.

I went to school in Burlington, and they failed to mention Tyrel led the team to an undefeated state championship his freshman year.
