¢Kansas coach Bill Self said freshman Julian Wright would make his second straight start today in place of Christian Moody. Wright started at Texas A&M.; In that game, he played six minutes, failed to score and did not play in the second half.

¢KU leads the all-time series, 158-58. Iowa State won the last meeting, 63-61, in overtime, on Feb. 19, 2005, at Allen Fieldhouse.

¢KU has won seven of the last nine meetings.

¢Self is 2-2 versus Iowa State; Wayne Morgan is 2-2 against KU.

¢Iowa State had a 21-game nonconference home win streak snapped this season versus Iona.

¢ISU has lost all three of its games on ESPN this season and is 1-6 on Saturdays (including exhibitions).

¢ ISU is 3-1 on the road this year, including a 2-1 mark in Big 12 games. The Cyclones have lost two straight league home games. ISU has not lost three straight league home games since the 2001-02 season.

¢Will Blalock is the Big 12 leader in assists (6.5 per game) and is shooting 43.8 percent (14-32) from three-point range in league play.

¢The Cyclones won their third "state title" in four years, sweeping Northern Iowa, Drake and Iowa.

¢ISU hit a season-high 11 threes against Drake, tying for the fourth best total in school history.

¢ Last year, in ISU's overtime win in Lawrence, Curtis Stinson scored 29 points off 10-of-23 shooting. He had seven rebounds. Blalock had just three points. In KU's 71-66 win in Ames, Stinson had 18 points and Blalock 17 off combined 12 of 32 shooting.

¢ESPN's Ron Franklin and Fran Fraschilla will work today's game.
