Palm Springs, Calif. Kansas University's softball team dropped a 2-0 decision to Pacific on Sunday, closing out the Palm Springs Classic with a 1-4 record.
Destiny Frankenstein had two doubles in the loss for KU (5-9 overall) at Big League Dreams Complex.
Jessica Moppin had KU's only other hit Sunday.
Junior pitcher Kassie Humphreys (3-4) walked five, struck out three and gave up just three hits in the complete-game effort. Pacific's Alyce Jorgensen (2-2) had an identical stat line, also walking five, striking out three and allowing three hits in 61â3 innings for the win. Reliever Kristen Allen faced the final two batters.
It their late game Saturday, the Jayhawks suffered a 2-1 setback to California Santa Barbara.
The Jayhawks will head to Tulsa, Okla., for the Golden Hurricane Classic, which runs Friday through Sunday.
