Kansas University’s men’s golf squad placed dead last out of 21 squads after Friday’s final round at the UH Hilo Intercollegiate. KU shot a final-round score of 298 for a 905 total on the par-71 layout.
The Jayhawks travel Feb. 27-28 to the All-American Intercollegiate in Houston.

Holly Springs, N.C. ? Kansas University’s golf squad is tied for eighth place after Friday’s first round of the 15-team Courtyard by Marriott Intercollegiate at Devils Ridge Golf Club.
The Jayhawks shot an opening-round score of 287 and were playing the second round when play was postponed because of rain. More bad weather in the forecast prompted the cancellation of the third round, and so the second round will be played at 9 a.m. today.
Junior Pete Krsnich led the Jayhawks after shooting a 71 and tying for 22nd place. Sophomore Kevin Ward, junior Luke Trammell and sophomore Gary Woodland each shot 72 to tie for 29th, and sophomore Tyler Docking was tied for 45th after a 73.
LAFAYETTE, LA. ? Kansas University’s men’s golf squad placed fourth after the final round Tuesday of the 15-team Louisiana Classics Invitational at Oakbourne Country Club.
KU shot a final-round score of 294 for a two-round total of 586 on the par-72 course. Despite the high finish, KU coach Ross Randall said there was room for improvement.
“We didn’t play like we are capable of as a team,” Randall said. “Hopefully, we can practice and improve before our next tournament.”
Sophomore Tyler Docking was the top KU finisher individually, placing second after posting a two-round score of 142. Senior Andrew Price and sophomore Gary Woodland each tied for 18th place after scores of 148, junior Pete Krsnich tied for 26th (149), and senior Kevin Ward tied for 56th (155).
Southern Methodist won the team title after carding a team score of 582.
KU will return to action March 21-22 at the Stevinson Ranch Intercollegiate in Stevinson, Calif.
HILO, Hawaii ? Kansas University’s men’s golf team tied for 11th at the 21-team Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate on Friday at the Waikoloa Village Course. KU posted a final-round score of 274 for a three-round total of 833.
Oklahoma State won with an 801.
KU’s Tyler Docking carded a 72, and Kevin Ward fired a 67. They tied for 21st.
Kansas senior Andrew Price tied a KU record by shooting a 63, the lowest by any player in the tournament. He tied for 24th.
HILO, Hawaii ? Kansas University’s men’s golf team slipped from a tie for fourth place after Wednesday’s round to 11th place after Thursday’s second-round score of 287 at the Waikoloa Intercollegiate.
Sophomore Tyler Docking is tied for sixth place after a second-day score of 70 and a two-round total of 134. Senior Kevin Ward (139) is tied for 31st; senior Andrew Price (144) is 72nd; and junior Pete Krsnich and sophomore Gary Woodland each are tied for 84th at 145.
The final round is today.
HILO, Hawaii ? Sophomore Tyler Docking shot a 64, helping Kansas University’s men’s golf squad surge into a tie for fourth place out of 21 teams after the first round Wednesday at the Waikoloa Intercollegiate.
Docking is tied for first individually as the Jayhawks posted a first-round score of 272.
Docking’s round ties the second-lowest round in KU history.
Kevin Ward (68), Andrew Price (69), Pete Krsnich (71) and Gary Woodland (73) rounded out the KU scorers heading into today’s second round.

Sophomore Tyler Docking was the top KU finisher, tying for fourth after firing a 207 total. Gary Woodland finish tied for 16th at 212, Kevin Ward and Barrett Martens each finished at 216 and tied for 37th, and Andrew Price tied for 65th at 223. Kansas will compete in its final tournament of the fall season Nov. 1-2 at The Prestige 2004 in La Quinta, Calif.

Orlando, Fla. ? Kansas University’s men’s golf team tied for sixth place Tuesday in the 18-team UCF/Rio Pinar Intercollegiate. KU shot a three-round total of 888 on the 6,978-yard, par-72 Rio Pinar Country Club.
“The team played better in today’s round,” KU coach Ross Randall said. “We shook off a little of the rust from yesterday and shot a one-over-par round as a team.”
The Jayhawks finished 25 strokes behind the team champion, South Alabama, which shot a three-round total of 863 and defeated second-place Central Florida (863) in a playoff. Third place went to Coastal Carolina with a three-round 881 total.
Juniors Andrew Price (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Kevin Ward (Leawood) tied for seventh with three-round totals of 215.
“Andrew and Kevin both played very well this tournament,” Randall said. “We are going to get back on the course and practice more before the next tournament.”
KU will travel March 1-2 to San Antonio for the UTSA Invitational at Oak Hill Country Club.
Orlando, Fla. ? Kansas University’s men’s golf team shot 289 on Tuesday at Rio Pinar Country Club, giving them a three-round total of 888 and a tie for sixth place at the University of Central Florida/Rio Pinar Intercollegiate.
“The team played better in today’s round,” head coach Ross Randall said. “We shook off a little of the rust from yesterday and shot a one-over-par round as a team.”

total of 233. Sophomore Ryan Rainer (Norman, Okla.) finished in a tie for 67th after shooting a 79 in his final round for a three-round total of 235.
“Andrew (Price) and Kevin (Ward) both played very well this tournament,” Randall said. “We are going to get back on the course and practice more before the next tournament”
Manhattan ? Kansas University’s men’s golf team finished 19th out of 27 teams after Saturday’s final round of the NCAA Central Regional at Colbert Hills.
Kansas shot a third-round total of 288 for a final score of 881.
“The team finished 19th after being seeded 24th in the field,” KU coach Ross Randall said. “That proves this team played better than most people expected them to.”
Oklahoma State finished the three-day event with a total of 856 and won the team title.
Illinois was runner-up at 861.
Senior Chris Marshall led the Jayhawks with a score of 215 after carding a 6-under 66 on Saturday, a score that equaled the lowest posted in the tourney.
“What a phenomenal way to go out,” Randall said.

The Jayhawks shot an opening-round score of 295 on the 7,525-yard, par-72 layout. The regional continues today and Saturday. Freshman Ryan Rainer had the best round for the Jayhawks, a 72 that ties him for 44th place.
Kansas University’s men golfers will attempt to bounce back from their disappointing eighth-place finish at the Big 12 Conference championships when they participate in the NCAA Central Regional today through Saturday at Colbert Hills in Manhattan.
KU, the No. 24 seed in the 27-team field, is making its sixth straight appearance in an NCAA regional tournament.
Coach Ross Randall’s lineup will be composed of Chris Marshall, a senior from Stanley; Tyler Hall, a junior from Wayne, N.J.; Andrew Price, a sophomore from Lake Forest, Ill.; and freshmen Pete Krisnich of Wichita and Ryan Rainer of Norman, Okla.
Competitors will play 18 holes today, Friday and Saturday.
Raleigh, N.C. ? Kansas University’s men’s golf team was in 11th place after two rounds Saturday of the Intercollegiate.
North Carolina leads the team race with 560 strokes. Kansas has 580 strokes and sits in 11th place in the 15-team field.
Tulsa’s Chris Noel is the individual leader with 135 strokes. KU’s leader is Chris Marshall, who is tied for 23rd with 143.

Waikoloa, Hawaii ? The Kansas University men’s golf team finished 20th out of 26 squads Friday at the Taylor Made/Big Island Invitational. The Jayhawks shot a three-round total score of 876 at the par-70 Waikoloa Beach course.
Senior Chris Marshall was the top Jayhawk finisher at 213, tying him for 22nd place. Junior Tyler Hall (218) finished 48th, freshman Ryan Ranier (220) placed 69th, sophomore Andrew Price (226) finished 98th and sophomore Kevin Ward (227) placed 102nd.
UCLA won the team title with a three-round score of 836.
ST. CHARLES, MO. ? Kansas University’s men’s golf team shot a final-round 288 to place sixth in the 14-team Missouri Bluffs Classic on Tuesday.
KU had a three-round total of 858 strokes on the 7,047-yard, par-71 Missouri Bluffs Golf Club course.
“We didn’t have as good a round as we ended with yesterday. It was a frustrating way to end the tournament,” Kansas coach Ross Randall said. “We did see a bit of improvement in certain areas.”
KU’s Chris Marshall shot a 71-65-71207 and finished in a tie for second place. Other Kansas scorers were: Andrew Price, tied for 20th, 215; Tyler Hall and Pete Krsnich, tied for 25th, 217; Jason Sigler, tied for 37th, 220; and Ryan Rainer, tied for 46th, 224. Krsnich was competing independently.
Iowa State’s Drew Dalziel won with a 205, and Illinois won the team title with an 836.
LITTLE ROCK, ARK. ? Kansas University’s golf team is tied for second after the first day Thursday of the NCAA Central Regional at Pleasant Valley Golf Course.
The Jayhawks, who totaled 289 strokes to leader Oklahoma State’s 287, must place in the top 10 of 27 teams to qualify for the NCAA Tournament. Oklahoma and Texas Christian also had 289 strokes. Purdue totaled 290, good for fifth.
KU senior Travis Hurst fired a 2-under-par 70, good for a tie for fifth. Junior Chris Marshall shot 71 to tie for 13th. After a shaky front nine, senior Casey Harbour carded an even-par 72 and was tied for 24th. Sophomore Tyler tied for 67th place at 76, while Andrew Price tied for 136th at 85.
“I thing that we did OK today,” KU coach Ross Randall said. “Andrew did not have a good day and he will certainly have to step up tomorrow in order to help us.
“I truly think that we put ourselves in a good position for our early start tomorrow. At this time last year we had dug ourselves a hole and were not able to come out. Now I think that we know what we have to do.”
Jonesborough, Tenn. ? Kansas University’s men’s golf team placed 10th of 15 schools at the Ridges Intercollegiate Sunday at Ridges Golf and Country Club.
Texas Christian won the 15-team tournament with 841 strokes. Kansas had 881 strokes.
KU’s top finisher was junior Chris Marshall, who shot a final round 2-under-par 70 and finished at 215.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. ? Kansas University’s men’s golf team is in ninth place heading into the final round of the Intercollegiate after carding a 589 in Saturday’s 36-hold first round.
The Jayhawks shot a 297 in Saturday’s morning round and concluded the day with a 292 at the par-72 Finley Golf Course.
Andy Stewart led the Jayhawks and sits in a three-way tie for 12th place at 1-under-par 143. Conrad Roberts is tied for 25th at 146, while Chris Marshall (150) and Travis Hurst (151) are tied for 41st and 48th respectively. Casey Harbour is tied for 56th place at 153.
North Carolina State leads the team race with 567 strokes.
Kansas University’s men’s golf team was picked fourth in a poll of the Big 12 Conference coaches.
Texas was ranked No. 1 in the league with a total of 118 points. OKlahoma State (109) and Oklahoma (101) placed 2-3, while KU was fourth at 96 points.
The coaches’ poll was used to determine first-round pairings for the Big 12 championships, which will run April 23-24 at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson.
Thus, Kansas will be paired with No. 5 Colorado and No. 6 Baylor at 8:50 a.m. on the first tee on April 23.
Santa Cruz, Calif. ? University’s men’s golf team jumped 10 spots over the final day to finish in third place at the Western Intercollegiate tournament on Tuesday.
The Jayhawks shot a tournament-low team score of 277 on the final day at the Pasatiempo Golf Course. KU finished with a 54-hole total of 872 strokes.
Kansas shot a 299 in the first round and 296 in the second and was in 13th place after Monday’s 36-hole opener.
KU senior Andy Stewart fired a final-round 4-under-par 66 to tie for 10th place with a three-day score of 216. Junior Travis Hurst (281) was tied for 17th, while senior Conrad Roberts and sophomore Chris Marshall tied for 31st at 221. Junior Casey Harbour tied for 55th with 227 strokes.
Kansas, ranked 34th in the latest golfstat rankings, matched last year’s third-place finish at the Western Intercollegiate.
Oregon, ranked 31st in the latest polls, won the tournament with an 850.

The Jayhawks shot a two-day, 3-under-par team score of 861, 12 strokes better than runner-up Mississippi State.
