Milwaukee Rhino Page had a 225 average to place second overall, and Kansas University's bowling team opened defense of its national championship with a come-from-behind victory in the Midwest Collegiate Bowling Championships, which concluded Sunday.
KU trailed Wichita State by 300 pins after Saturday's second round, but won the team title with a pinfall total of 11,350. WSU was second at 11,311. There were 42 men's teams.
Other KU men's scores: 6. Dan Ahl, 211; 8. Zach Taylor, 210; Chris Dilley, 210; Trent Overbey, 198; and Patrick Eighmy, 189.
WSU won the women's title with 10,579 pins. Kansas was second at 10,010.
Kelly Zapf led KU with a 196 average and placed fourth overall. Other KU scores: 11. Kelly Sanders, 187; 15. Leanne Downey, 184; Natalie Bennett, 177; Sarah Roenfeldt, 174; Shay Kvassey, 145; Danielle Williams, 145.
KU next will bowl in the Mid-States Intercollegiate Bowling Championships on Oct. 30-31 in Blue Springs, Mo.
