The final game of the season.

A rivalry that went back 150 years.

A Kansas University football team hungry to finish the year on a good note and prove last year's win over Missouri wasn't a fluke.

And we brought you the inside story.

Journal-World senior editor Bill Snead was given exclusive access to the Jayhawk football program for the week leading up to and including the Nov. 20, 2004, Border War battle between Kansas and Missouri in Columbia, Mo. The Journal-World and KUsports.com took you behind the scenes of KU's preparation for the oldest rivalry west of the Mississippi River, one rooted in pre-Civil War raids and blood on the plains.

For the few days leading up to the game and the day after, we showed you Snead's photos from practice, the bus ride to Columbia and the big game. Similar to last year's inside look at the football program, this year's behind-the-scenes feature had an added sense of importance given the upcoming opponent.
