Today could be the day Kansas University men's basketball coach Bill Self names an assistant coach to replace Norm Roberts on his staff.
As reported by the Journal-World several times the past two weeks, the choice is believed to be Kurtis Townsend, 46, who coached at the University of Miami last season.
Townsend also has assistant-coaching experience at USC, Michigan, Eastern Kentucky and California. Born in San Jose, Calif. He played point guard at Western Kentucky two seasons (1978-80) and played the 1981 season for Montana in the CBA.
Roberts, who was Self's associate head coach last season, became head coach at St. John's on April 12.
