KU football lands commitment from prep tackle

By J-W Staff Reports     Jan 5, 2004

James McClinton, a 6-foot-1, 290-pound defensive tackle from Garland, Texas, has committed orally to Kansas University’s football team.

McClinton, a senior at Lakeview Centennial High, chose KU over Iowa, SMU and Houston.

“I followed God, and that led me to Kansas,” McClinton told Jon Kirby of rivals.com. “It was the best visit I had, and Lawrence is a nice place. Coach (Mark) Mangino is a good coach, and he has a good staff. Their program is going on the way up, and I wanted to be a part of it.”
