Stewart to be recognized Monday

By Jim Baker     Jan 21, 2003

Kansas will honor University of Missouri coaching legend Norm Stewart before Monday’s game against Texas.

KU will recognize Stewart for his 30-plus years of coaching in the Big Eight/Big 12 and recognize his work with Coaches V. Cancer.

The Jayhawks were not able to recognize Stewart during the 1998-99 season, Stewart’s final year at Mizzou. The coach resigned after the season had ended.

KU, you might recall, presented former Kansas State coach Jack Hartman with a golf bag in ceremonies before the KU-KSU game during the 1985-86 season, Hartman’s final year in Manhattan.

Also Monday, ex-Jayhawk coach Ted Owens will be on hand for Jo Jo White’s jersey retirement ceremony, to take place at halftime.
