KU women head to Iowa State

? Kansas University’s women’s basketball team today will try to bounce back from its worst home loss ever when the Jayhawks face Iowa State at Hilton Coliseum.

KU (7-5 overall, 0-1 Big 12 Conference) suffered an 88-49 loss to No. 4 Kansas State on Wednesday night at Allen Fieldhouse in the Big 12 opener. The Jayhawks were within 11 points at halftime before being blown out after intermission. The Wildcats outscored KU 44-18 in the paint and 25-4 off turnovers.

Iowa State (5-7, 0-1) also dropped its league opener, suffering a 64-63 loss to Colorado on Wednesday in Boulder, Colo.

Kansas has dominated the series against ISU 37-14, but the Cyclones have won three of the last four meetings at Hilton Coliseum.

Senior guard Lindsey Wilson leads Iowa State with an average of 17.1 points per game and is the only Cyclone starter scoring in double figures.

Sophomore guard Aquanita Burras leads Kansas with an average of 11.6 points per game, followed closely by freshman forward Crystal Kemp at 11.3.

Freshman center Tamara Ransburg averages 10.7 points and a team-leading 8.7 rebounds. Ransburg (6-foot-4) also leads the team and ranks second in the conference with 38 blocked shots.

KU will play another road game Wednesday at Stillwater, Okla., in a 7 p.m. game against Oklahoma State (4-8, 0-1).
