Kansas University senior running back James Sims devastated West Virginia's defense, and the Jayhawks won their first Big 12 game since Nov. 6, 2010, with a 31-19 victory Saturday at Memorial Stadium.
Sims, a freshman in KU's last conference victory, scored three of the four Kansas touchdowns on a career day, with 211 rushing yards.
KU (3-7 overall, 1-6 Big 12) snapped a six-game losing streak this season and a 27-game losing streak in Big 12 games.

12:08 — Charles Sims 12 pass from Paul Millard. Josh Lambert kick. After receiving the opening kickoff and starting against the wind, the Mountaineers marched down the field in six plays and 2:52 to open up the scoring. Sims accounted for two of the three big plays on the drive and a 30-yard pass from Millard to Mario Alford on the third play of the game set up the score. (WVU 7, KU 0).
7:16 — Ron Doherty 25 field goal. Montell Cozart started the game at quarterback for Kansas and calmly drove the Jayhawks 64 yards in 13 plays to put points on the board. Cozart completed one pass on the drive to Andrew Turzilli on third down and also ran for a first down. A holding penalty on first-and-goal from the 6 put KU in a hole and the Jayhawks settled for three. (WVU 7, KU 3).
6:12 — James Sims 3 run. Doherty kick. Kansas grabbed its first lead of the day on a five-play, 89-yard drive that took just 1:35 and was the second longest scoring drive of the season. Appropriately, the drive also featured KU's longest run from scrimmage this season, as Sims raced 62 yards down the West Virginia sideline two plays before plowing into the end zone on a great second effort. (KU 10, WVU 7).
0:28 — Sims 68 run. Doherty kick. A couple of possessions after ripping off a 62-yard run that set up a KU score, Sims outdid himself by racing 68 yards to the end zone to put Kansas up by two scores. The Jayhawks took possession with 40 seconds to play in the half and score on the first snap, with Sims out-running everyone to the end zone up the middle. (KU 17, WVU 7).
10:11 — Sims 2 run. Doherty kick. Ben Goodman's interception and ensuing 54-yard return set up the Jayhawks at the West Virginia 14 yard line and, five plays later Sims plowed in from two yards out for his third touchdown of the day. The drive, which covered 14 yards in five plays and 1:54, was kept alive by a seven-yard scramble on third down by quarterback Montell Cozart, who pump-faked a WVU defender at the 7 to get down to the 2. (KU 24, WVU 7).
6:24 — Brandon Bourbon 1 run. Doherty kick. KU's fourth touchdown run of the day was set up by an interception and 28-yard return by junior linebacker Ben Heeney. When Heeney reached the 5 yard line, he appeared to sniff the goal line and went all out to get into the end zone. He was stopped just short, though, and on the next snap Bourbon rammed in from a yard out. (KU 31, WVU 7).
4:54 — Kevin White 3 pass from Millard. Two-point pass failed. Two pass interference calls in a three-play span on the Kansas defense helped the Mountaineers reach the end zone for the first time since the game's opening drive. West Virginia's drive covered 75 yards in five plays and 1:30. (KU 31, WVU 13).
0:28 — Charles SIms 6 run. Two-point pass failed.
