FINAL: Late run pushes Michigan State to 67-64 victory over KU
Michigan State's Keith Appling hit a crucial, shot-clock-beating layup with 13.8 seconds left to push his team's lead to three, and Kansas' Travis Releford missed a three-pointer at the buzzer as MSU held on for a 67-64 victory over KU at the Champions Classic on Tuesday at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
MSU ended the game on a 13-5 run.
Elijah Johnson led KU with 16 points on 6-for-15 shooting, while Ben McLemore added 14 points on 5-for-7 shooting.
KU (1-1) will play UT Chattanooga at 7 p.m. Thursday at Allen Fieldhouse.

KU's cocky? Really? It appeared MSU was. I was talking about MSU. Let them get cocky. Come March, KU will be the better team.

disappointment was that nothing much changed at half. We did the best, esp. on O, at about the 5:00 mark of the first half. Rest of the game was slow, weak, sloppy, and not very smart..

they're team didn't play much better than ours -- but made better individual plays. Harris won it for them, really. Hot shooting all game.

that is not the D i'm used to seeing from KU. we collapsed the last 5 minutes. sad stuff, HAVE to improve our D.

We blew that one, that will hurt ncaa tourney time. The team we just played has half the talent we do.

Wouldn't have a problem with this outcome if ku hadn't lead most of the game, before missing a couple layups and making a couple of stupid passes. Frustrating.

Wonder why we didn't try zone D at all, since they were beating us on the dribble so much.

But I loved seeing Traylor play with some fire... wish upperclassmen would play like that!

That was crap. The good thing is i get to take my four year son to his first game on Thur. I cant wait.

It's not that I don't agree that we're soft... we are. KU's cocky, overrated, and shouldn't be in the top 10.... but the problem i had is that people called the game with over 2 minutes to go and we weren't even down by more than three.

Withey should not be playing that many minutes.... Slow and weak. No excuses at this point. I'd rather see Young or Traylor out there.

3rd time tonight I saw guys switching on a simple screen.... just can't do that. Guys will hedge, and the other defender just leaves his man totally.

We missed too many bunnies and free throws earlier in the game. Our D is not that bad. It is failing late however.
