FINAL: KU holds on for 66-58 victory over Texas A&M
Elijah Johnson posted 21 points on 7-for-11 shooting, and the Kansas men's basketball team survived a second-half lapse in a 66-58 victory over Texas A&M on Wednesday night in College Station, Texas.
KU led, 55-37, with 6:58 remaining before a 16-2 Texas A&M run cut the deficit to 57-53 with 2:08 left.
Jeff Withey put in two free throws with 20 seconds to extend the lead to 64-58, then added a breakaway dunk with 11 seconds to seal it.
Withey added 11 points, seven rebounds and four blocks, while Thomas Robinson contributed 10 points on 3-for-10 shooting with 13 rebounds. The junior fouled out after picking up a technical foul in the final minute.
Tyshawn Taylor posted 12 points on 4-for-10 shooting.
KU (23-5, 13-2 Big 12) will play host to Missouri at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Good observation, but I am waiting for HCBS and post-game. We'll see what he says.

TRob still got a double-double. Against a defense that was designed to stop him and mugged him all night. Things are still looking good. Could have done without the second half lull, but Self left Connor & KY out there for a long time when things were getting bad. Self did what he had to do to win the game, and left something in the tank for Saturday

I'm not Jess but I saw a lot of Self using his bench perhaps to rest players, but it sure did take KU out of its rhytmn.

Jesse, why does Bill Self let the Jayhawks take their foot off the gas pedal when they have a big lead, and then let them keep playing without passion? Why doesn't he call time out and get into their heads? See what happens? We came darn close to losing this game. Why?

Didn't help himself. He's allowed a pass or two but he needs to be a monster against Mizzou to leap Davis now

Could have. He takes such a beating throughout the game and I think that it wears on him.

Kansas was cleary not interested the second half. That is on Bill Self but it is what it is. I would be impossible to not look to next game when you are up by 20.

Are we supposed to win all games by 20? Can't do that every night. Be happy with the win and know that they will sort it out better than most could

HCBS needs to realize we NEED Jeff Withey in the game at the end. He's a different player than he was before Missery.

This is the best example of a win is a win. The jayhawks take an entire half off and still win.

I saw one play where an A&M player literally bull-rushed into Jeff. No call.

The zebras have been letting A&M mug the KU big men under the basket. T-Rob is rightly frustrated. His reaction was to the A&M player putting his hand on his chest as he was trying to get up.
