Shouldn't have lost by that big of a margin, had offense been able to do anything at all in the 2nd half.

Plhawk

Well in 42 seconds Gill can lead the team into the locker room for a pray meeting and say great moral victory. What worthless excuse for a coach Can him tomorrow Dr, Z

"screaming for" easy auto correct

Aznhawk

Great performance by the KU Defense tonight. rock chalk!

OU runs out the clock. KU drops to 2-4.

Ahpersecoachingexperience

Lot of people scree Ingrid OU to score in the sports books

Darin Bradley

Don't let these a-holes score

Micky Baker

Gill should be replaced, TOMORROW. I realize they're playing a very good football team, but Kansas should have at least 14 or 17 more points and OU would not have scored as much and this thing would be going down to the wire.

Larry Evans

Nebraska wants to hire Gill.hehe

Hawk90 in reply to Micky Baker

I only took issue with two plays tonight. Both were the 3 and plus 5 plays. Thought we should have thrown it. Beside that, playcalling wasn't horrible, alot of young players making mistakes.

Kesmithstl1

you could run 27 QB sneaks and get more than 11 yards. That is pathetic!

Kyle Berthusen

What a freaking punt. WHAT A DECENT PUNTER WE HAVE

Kent Wells

11 yards of offense in the second half. Damn.

Dxjhawk

Great punt

Micky Baker

What the hell? Cowards calling plays? TG has got to go. They don't need to get a homeruns every time. All they needed to do is move the ball and keep the ball out of OU's hands.

Larry Evans

I think Gill should have no numbers on the jerseys. might as well make it complete.

Paul Christiansen

another inexcusable second half coaching meltdown!

Ampthatman

Hows that .073 yards/play looking now?

Dwm614

I'm done.....no competing in the second half.....Go home Gill!

Ahpersecoachingexperience

And by lose hime I mean both physically and mentally

Stupidmichael in reply to Joey Kuebel

The offense has clearly been the better of the two units throughout the season. Just not tonight. The defense played relatively well to night, but by no means "good" for most BCS standards. I think Oklahoma deserves some credit for scoring on the defense and holding the KU offense. Some of you are making it sound like this was KU's game to lose. Please.

Dxjhawk

Well we got a first down, but got negative yardage for the drive.

Aznhawk

Agreed with hawk90

Larry Evans

I like it that i could tell who 81 is making that catch. Hello? who was that?

Whoisjohngalt

Gill and Company with another AMAZING halftime adjustment.

Ahpersecoachingexperience in reply to Selfanatic

Noticed that too

Ampthatman in reply to Joey Kuebel

I think the key is understanding and accepting that certain people just absolutely HAVE to find something to complain about.

Onlylookin2score

MIKE STOOPS!!!!!!!!! AVAILABLE??!!?!

Micky Baker

Very poor play calling. If they call the right plays, this team can win 3 or 4 more games this year if the defense plays hard like they did tonight. CALL PLAYS THAT GIVE THE OFFENSE A CHANCE!

Hawkfromhays in reply to Joey Kuebel

Fair enough...but until tonight it was appropriate to blame the defense.

Whoisjohngalt

God we are pathetic.

Hawk90

This final score is not an indicator of this game was played. We are talking about a national contender, and we played some good football today. We are an extremely young team, who played their hearts out. Our offensive backfield oldest player is Webb. We have some talent. Guess what Mangino got spanked by OU also, in 08 he stopped running the ball when it was like a 7 point game and Sharp was getting 10 yards per carry. No shame in today's game.

Selfanatic

Funny how ESPN tries to keep the camera shots from showing the empty stadium. They crop the shot to make it full of people and if it pans out they quickly adjust the shot. Guess we should say thanks.

Darin Bradley

Poor decision Webb. Throw it away.. you're already heading outside the tackle box

Kyle Berthusen in reply to Aznhawk

That's not Webb's fault. He had an unblocked guy right in his face

Ahpersecoachingexperience

Can we pull Webb before we lose him for the season

Kesmithstl1

at least he didn't throw it!

Dxjhawk

Sigh... Webb..

Dwm614

This football team will never excell until the University of Kansas takes it as seriously as the basketball program!

Brian Powell

I can go to bed now.

Joey Kuebel

My problem is everyone is sitting there blaming the defense for our awful performances when our offense doesn't get a first down the 2nd half....

THE DEFENSE IS ON THE FIELD THE ENTIRE HALF, HOW DO YOU EXpect them to perform???????? Sorry. This coaching staff gets outschemed left and right. Coming from a bears fans who got to watch them on the field the 2nd half pretty much the last 8 games of the year... No difference. If your offense gets outschemed so bad that your defense can't get a rest, then your offense is that awfully outschemed that they can't get a first down... .caps THAT IS NOT EXECUTION, THAT IS 199% COACHING.... THAT JUST IS TRASH.

I'D SAY WAIT UNTIL THIS COACH GETS HIS PLAYERSA CHANCE, BUT WHAT'S THE POINT... THE OFFENSE CAN'T JUST GIVE UP EVERY SINGLE GAME AT HALFTIME... THE DEFENSE GETS SMASHED NONSTOP IT'S SORRY, THE OFFENSE IS JUST AS BADLY BEING OUTSCHEMED. THIS ISN'T THE DEFENSES FAULT I'D THEY OFFENSE GETS A TOTAL OF 3 FIRST DOWNS VS FIRST TEAM DEFENSES THE LAST 4 GAMES NOW... FIRE GILL. THIS GUY IS AS WISE AS MY DOG ON COCAINE.

Aznhawk

dammit webb!

Benjamin Piehler

ESPN trying their hardest not to show the stands

79ictjhawk

1st down!!!!

Aznhawk

Finally! Webb makes a good throw!

Darin Bradley

1st Down.

Ampthatman in reply to Kesmithstl1

My bad. I bet you've got a year or two of eligibility left.

Hawkfromhays

FIRST DOWN!

Brian Powell

YESSSSSSSS!

Kesmithstl1

BTW, anyone hear Herbstreet on Gameday this morning asking where Mangino was?

Darin Bradley

Here comes Webb again

Aznhawk

MAN!!! Webb is still in?

Jayhawk86

Is the fact that Jone and Whaley are still in the game a sign of

Jaydocmd

31 the line? Interesting finish for some..

Dwm614

Mangino won when he had the back of the university. It stopped when the establishment got soft! Never got his back.....get it right man!

741hawk in reply to Ahpersecoachingexperience

Fair observation.

Dxjhawk

First down please.

Larry Evans

I WANT A FIRST DOWN ! I WANT A FIRST DOWN ! Chants the cheer squad. hehe.

Hawkfromhays in reply to Jayhawk86

At least we competed against everyone else. This game will turn out to be an anomaly, just wait til KState goes all mid-90s on us next week.

Kesmithstl1 in reply to Ampthatman

hey-o! I'm a man, I'm 34! And you shouldn't crush my dreams man.

Hawk90 in reply to Ahpersecoachingexperience

I do understand, were talking about a guy who has lit up everyone he has played. No shame.

Ahpersecoachingexperience

Touchdown club = ghost town

Darin Bradley

Didn't say outplayed them. Or outscored. I said out hit them and its a fact.

Whoisjohngalt

Oklahoma could EASILY still cover.

OU inching closer to the spread.

Brian Powell

he's like "Why am I still in the game running all these yards??"

Jayhawk86 in reply to Hawkfromhays

Just so you know, the average margin of loss by Mangino frohe south was 24 points. It was not like he excelled.

Brian Powell

lol Whaley looks tired.

Dwm614

OUT HIT THEM? Check the score!

Ampthatman in reply to Kesmithstl1

First of all you need to be a great Kansas HS football player. But you're not, so your opinion doesn't matter.

Jessenewell KUsports.com staff

Whaley with the 10-yard TD.

Ahpersecoachingexperience in reply to Hawk90

Just as you understand that jones has played the worst game of his life with a ton of drops from his receivers and still has close to 400 yards

Aznhawk

I want to see Mecham in. Webb not in the right state of mind at the moment. He needs to clear his head.

Baldjedi

Too bad us outhitting them hasn't produced a better score

Dxjhawk

Either of the QB recruits for next year look any better?

Kesmithstl1 in reply to Larry Evans

I agree with you. If I'm a great Kansas HS football player, I'm not playing for Gill. His game coaching is BRU-TAL

Jayhawk2144

dam right we did

Darin Bradley

No doubt we out hit the Sooners tonight.

Paul Christiansen

darrius Willis #2 has been inspiring

Hawkfromhays

Well, look on the bright side: tonight our play has risen back to the level of where it was at under Terry Allen.

Dwm614

Perkins was a dorf....Mangino should have still been here.....He was a little tough but this is football not a tea party!

Aznhawk

Missed opportunities by the offense is what will lead to this defeat.

Hawk90 in reply to Plhawk

Of course, but what if he missed hit it?

Jayhawk86 in reply to Hawk90

Very true. How many chances did we have where we didnt convert. That is not on the staff.

Darin Bradley

Big time STICK !!

Kyle Berthusen

WHAT U TALKIN BOUT WILLIS?

Aznhawk

Oops. i didnt mean to reply to ass herse. or whatever his name is

Jessenewell KUsports.com staff

Willis with another big hit. His best game at KU.

Hawk90 in reply to Ahpersecoachingexperience

Im sure a bright mind like yours understands that the defense has played 75 percent of the second half. Any offense will get yards after being on the field that long.

Plhawk in reply to Hawk90

As a coach you tell your punter not to punt to the guy. He keeps coaching like he is he will be on the computer.

Aznhawk in reply to Ahpersecoachingexperience

Agreed. Alot of missed opportunities.

Ampthatman in reply to Ahpersecoachingexperience

And held OU multiple times in the red zone. AND got 3 turnovers.

Darin Bradley

Really like Johnson. Still playing hard.

Runningbeakers84 in reply to Ahpersecoachingexperience

Yes, but more of "bending not breaking" than normal.

Hawk90 in reply to J.B.

I don't think there were miss adjustments, alot of miss opportunities

Brian Powell in reply to J.B.

sums up the game well.

Larry Evans

I wonder if Gill will get any top Kansas recruits after this year? Doubt it..K-State bound.

Kesmithstl1 in reply to Larry Evans

bingo, bango, bongo! It can be done, if the RIGHT coach is in place.

Ahpersecoachingexperience in reply to Aznhawk

You realize that they've given up almost 600 yards...again!

J.B.

The defense may have given up 500+ yards, but they still played above and beyond their abilities. Forced three Sooner turnovers. Several goal-line stands. The blame for this defeat-to-be lies with the ineptitude of the offense and the refusal of the coaching staff to make any adjustments to the offensive gameplan.
