FINAL: Revenge! KU tops Texas, 85-73, for Big 12 tournament title
Tyshawn Taylor scored 20 points on 7-for-10 shooting, leading the Kansas men's basketball team to an 85-73 victory over Texas in the Big 12 championship game on Saturday at Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo.
Marcus Morris was named the tournament's most outstanding player. Markieff was also named to the all-tournament team.
"We had to back our talk up," Markieff said. "We were saying we wanted Texas, they beat us, and we definitely came out ready to play and we kept the energy the whole game."
Taylor, who started in place of Elijah Johnson, added five assists, four rebounds and a steal to go with two turnovers.
"Coach (Bill Self) gave me a green light to come out and be aggressive and told me to attack," Taylor said. "That's exactly what I did. I just was looking to score and looking to create for my teammates."
Six KU players scored in double figures: Marcus (17), Markieff (14), Brady Morningstar (13), Tyrel Reed (11), and Thomas Robinson (10).
The Jayhawks made 20 of 34 shots in the first half (58.8 percent) to jump out to a 48-33 halftime lead.
KU (32-2) will learn its NCAA Tournament seeding on Sunday.

UT rarely keeps its players, so I would not be shocked if one or two declares. It is just how their program operates.

Also, the NBA is in a bad spot right now, with a potential lockout incoming. Have to keep that in mind.

Hmmm, maybe I should drive down to Jupiter. Knight is actually a pretty awesome guy, though B-grade announcer.

do you think Texas will keep all their bigs for next year? Because if we lose the twins that will def. even the table here..

If they do not make the Final Four I bet they do a Carolina thing and come back for their last year. They love playing together, and that won't happen in their early NBA career. I would not be shocked if this team is not mostly back (minus Brady, Reed, Mario) next season, barring a title. Here's to hoping.
