FINAL: KU cleans up play in second half, takes down No. 14 Memphis, 81-68
Markieff Morris scored 16 points to go with seven rebounds, helping KU to an 81-68 victory over No. 14 Memphis on Tuesday in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Marcus Morris added 14 points and eight rebounds, while Tyshawn Taylor contributed 13 points.
Thomas Robinson also notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.
KU led just 37-35 at halftime before making 17 of its 27 shots from the floor (63 percent) in the second half.
The Jayhawks outrebounded the Tigers, 44-31.
After the game, KU guard Elijah Johnson said he was frustrated with rumors that indicated he might transfer away from KU and reiterated that he was not leaving KU.
KU (8-0) will play Colorado State at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo.
